Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

Внешне ниобея схожа с адиппой, отличие заключается в более светлой окраске крыльев и более закругленной форме вершин передних крыльев у ниобеи. Зато у адиппы более четко выражена цепочка лунок, а перламутровые пятна на исподе задних крыльев — крупнее. Для самок f. obscura Spul. характерна более темная окраска, а представители f. eris Meig. и вовсе обходятся без перламутровых пятен на нижней поверхности задних крыльев, которых здесь заменяют светло-желтые или желто-коричневые пятнышки. В последнем случае опять усматривается сходство с красной преламутровкой (Argynnis adippe), у которой известна форма cleodoxa Ochs. также лишенная перламутровых пятен. [85].
