Distribution

Regions of the Russian Federation: the Lower Amur, Seaside. [3].
Outside of Russia: North India, China, Korea and Japan, Sri Lanka, Burma, part of Indonesia.
In Primorye, lives in the valley broad-leaved forests, preferring sparse trees and scrub on the edges and along the river banks [95].

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

Length of front wing of 33 - 35 mm. Wingspan 55 - 70 mm. The main background of the upper side of the wings - dark brown with a blue coating. Through both kryla- goes wide submarginal band of blue close to the outer edge.The outer edge of the wings carved with a number of teeth, of which stand out a large tooth below the top of the front wings and a protrusion at the lower edge of the rear wings. On the underside of the wings dark patterned [95].

Imago lifespan

2 generations: the first - wintered Butterflies fly -mae in April, the second generation - from mid-August to late September. [95].

Larva food plants / other food objects

Smilax, for example, Smilax china, as well as Tricyrtis hirta, Lilium lancifolum, Heterosmilax japonica, Lilium lancifolium and Streptopus amplexifolius. [9].
In Primorye, the caterpillars develop on sarsaparilla Maximovich (syn. Oldgema sarsaparilla, Smilax coastal) (Smilax maximowiczii Koidz = Smilax oldhamii = Smilax riparia) [95].
