Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

Wingspan 65-85 mm. UP is black, HW (hind - wing) with five elongate white spots surrounding the cell. Similar to P. adamsoni but submarginal spots are darker, reddish black. Female is larger and slightly paler than the male. HW of subsp. asteris is narrower than that of goniopeltis especially the white spots at beyond the cell and sometimes spot in space 5 may be absent. [144].
