Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • Размах крыльев до 70 мм. На боковой стороне первого сегмента передней лапы имеется до 12 шипиков (вместо 9, как у Hyles costata) (Державец, 1979).
    Хотя взрослые особи Hyles exilis и Hyles costata визуально очень похожи, Danner et al. (1998) разделили эти виды, используя небольшие различия в окраске и мужских гениталиях. С обнаружением очень непохожих личинок обоих видов (В. Дубатолов, перс. комм. 2010; Zolotuhin & Saldaitis, 2011) это разделение оправдано. [348].
