  • Greece, Spain, Italy, Corsica, Crete, Portugal, Sardinia, Sicily, France, Yugoslavia. [1].
  • Albania, Balearic Islands, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gibraltar, Greece (mainland), Dodecanese Islands, Spain (mainland), Italy (mainland), Cyprus, Corsica, Crete, Portugal (mainland), Sardinia, North Aegean, Sicily, France (mainland), Croatia, Yugoslavia. [10].
  • Range: eastern Mediterranean coast of Greece, the former Yugoslavia and eastern Italy, including the islands. To the west it is less common in Spain and Portugal is almost absent. [5].

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • A very large for Europe butterfly - the length of the front wing may exceed 4 cm wingspan females can reach 10 cm. The top of the wings is dark brown on the underside allocated contrasting white stripe and 4 blue spot with two tails on each of the rear fenders. [5].
