Вид отсутствует в Северной Германии, а также частично в северо-западной и в южной части Европы. Зато медузы нередко встречаются во Франции и Центральной Европе, летают и в Сибири. [85].

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

Длина переднего крыла колеблется в районе 2—2,2 см. Глазки идут по прерывистой, а не сплошной рыжей полосе. Образует несколько географических форм, например, hippomedusa Ochsenheimer, 1820, которая летает в австрийских и итальянских Альпах. [85].

General info about Imago

Луговины в лесу, просеки, вырубки и даже влажные низменности — вот далеко не полный список мест, где можно встретить Erebia medusa. В горах поднимается до 2600 м (Альпы) или 1600—1900 м (Карпаты). [85].

Imago lifespan

Летает с середины мая по июнь, в горах встречается и в июле. [85].

Тело гусеницы медузы светло-зеленое, с тремя спинными полосами: темно-зеленой срединной и белыми боковыми. [85].

Gramineae. [28].
Злаки, злаки и еще раз злаки. Пример тем злакам — кровяная росичка. Примеры от Ламперта — бор обыкновенный, боровое просо, красное просо. [85].

Гусеницы медуз живут с июля по апрель (до конца мая — Ламперт, 2003 — видимо, имеется ввиду горная местность). [85].

Pupa

Куколка светло-зеленая. [85].

Зимует гусеница. [85].
