sounds like a motorcycle starting up

this is a cicada, not a beetle
beetles do not "sing", some beetles make creaking sounds if you pick them up or get very close, but they are very far from starting a motorcycle

A bug? Hmm.. but the cicada can be

My lovely self! It will be possible to drive him on a leash!

IMHO, for P. americana, the bottom will be a little dark.

After dissecting two small ones, the scoop found this object in a ditch for washing the genitals. I can't say for sure whether it was inside the abdomen of one of them or outside. I wonder what it is?

It resembles some kind of fluke (and an adult one at that).
But they don't seem to be parasitic on insects.

I put it in alcohol and sent it to the nearest zoology department. "They'll sort it out there" (c) smile.gif

Oh! Such mucous membranes are present on the seeds of many plants, and given that the object was in the water... I think we should definitely show them not only to zoologists, but also to botanists. Oleg, let's drink on molbiol in relevant topic.

Please tell me what the pieces are. The first two showed no signs of life, and the third jumped very hard.

the first photo is the remains of a ladybug or leaf beetle pupa
the third photo is a weevil Cionus tuberculatus

third photo Cionus tuberculatus weevil

do they jump apart?
but similar, yes

09.10.2011 20:13, Анфим

Thanks! I really didn't think it was a weevil (09.05). With such tentacles, it generally looks like an alien.
But this is also a beetle? In the spring, I saw such creatures on flowers. The picture was taken on May 12.

There is no up-to-date paper book on geophiles, let alone an electronic one. Yes, and it is difficult, you need to dissect them.

I dissected it after the photo shoot.
I found a document for them only for Latvia-Geophilomorph Centipedes of Latvia (Chilopoda, Geophilomorpha).
It was identified there as Geophilus flavus. But can other species still exist here?
If you can help, I can upload more photos of the drug here.

Maybe also flavus. Of course, there may be other species in Karelia. Send me photos by email: aevsukov@mail.ru

Very interesting. The first thought is an exotic from the aquarium. But I'm not an expert in cancer.

Is he well sclerotized? I mean, it's not a molting individual?

I just don't know what to do with it. By the way, this is also an arthropod! Why you can identify insects, arachnids, and even lipopods here! What's wrong with crustaceans? Yes, shedding.

Anyway, in my opinion this is Procambarus of some kind.
