Earwig-Forficula auricularia Linneus, 1758, male.

Thank you! beer.gif

Thank you! beer.gif

Forficula auricularia is from 10 to 16 mm, and mine is 18 mm from the head to the tip of the tail
, or are they measured incorrectly ?

17.12.2012 22:23, Zlopastnyi Brandashmyg

Usually measure the length of the body + cerci, the one that your well fits into the normal size.

IMHO, giving a" total length " in insects with a telescopic abdomen is completely pointless. The length depends very much on the condition of the abdomen (dried up in a retracted or vice versa, stretched state). In such cases, I prefer to give measurements of sclerotized structures - the head, pronotum, ceres, etc.

18.12.2012 7:58, Victor Titov

please identify me.
according to the author-taken on the island of Bali, the length is about 5 mm.
here is the beginning of the discussion - http://tinyurl.com/dyquf2c (facebook)

I think that this has nothing to do with insects. Try asking on the botanic forum.

Hierodula tenuidentata? Black Sea coast

Hierodula transcaucasica.
H. tenuidentata in Central Asia (morphologically different in the color of the inner spines of the anterior thigh).

Empusa pennata or E. pennicornis? Is it possible to determine from this angle?
The first photo is ocd. Abrau-Durso, the rest-the vicinity of Gelendzhik.
I was asked to identify them by a friend of mine who works with nature reserves in the Krasnodar Territory, so it is possible that their identification will affect the compilation of faunal lists for nearby nature reserves. I myself do not have a very good idea which of these two species should be there with zoogeographic t. zr., so I would like to hear the point of view of more knowledgeable people in this matter...

Empusa pennata or E. pennicornis? Is it possible to determine from this angle?

The range of E. pennata is North Africa, the Canary Islands, Spain and Italy.
The photo clearly shows E. fasciata Brulle, 1832 (from Algeria to India), all photos clearly show large blades on medium basins. Zoogeographically it should be the same.

Look, what an interesting bristletail! - Shot in the forest on Mount Yutsa (KMV) - I don't hope for the title, but it's fun to show - especially the eyes! It must be a predatory animal... smile.gif

Good afternoon! Please introduce me to this lovely creature before it eats me upwink.gif

About four centimeters in size, brown in color, has a large number of thin legs in pairs of different lengths. The behavior is calm, prefers not to move, but sometimes makes high-speed short runs. It seems to have a shrimp-like shell. It has a gorgeous mustache on both ends of the body. The motives are not clear. Who is it? And what should I do with it?

Taken on March 8, 2013 in Penza, on the third floor of a panel house, ceiling skirting board.

Flycatcher. In my opinion, there is no need to do anything with it: it is completely harmless to humans.

Thank you very much! Like everything unfamiliar, this cute inhabitant at first caused surprise and dislike, due to its appearance. However, peredoborov emotions appeared interest! The world of insects is amazing and incredibly diverse and I am glad that thanks to you I learned a little more about it!

So, I decided to keep him free, I hope by tomorrow he will stop being so public, and when my father returns, I really hope that they will not meet, because he is a rather emotional person. And I decided to call our new resident Wessarion!

No, it's not Staphylinus caesareus, but Staphylinus erythropterus.

There was also such an option for me, but I wrote the most usual of the two: it was too wet and the spots on the abdomen are almost invisible, and the shield is completely flooded with water......
