Well, in Platycleis, the end of the female's abdomen (7th sternite) can help from below and from the side (males, I'm afraid, will only be determined by the genitals). As for who / what to define with... I don't know if I should read Hartz, although it's already outdated. There is another option - to ask for help on the Austrian forum "pryamokrylschikov" - http://www.forum-orthoptera.at "they know the fauna of southern Europe pretty well. However, the forum is German-speaking.

Yes, there are also at least two species smile.gifAbout the lower two I can say that from the fauna of the former USSR it would be Platycleis escalerai. In principle, Greece falls within its range. But I didn't recognize the upper beast, alas.

Thanks for the definition! 2 lower ones - one copy. There it is clear that there are 2 types. The former is slightly smaller and has a different build. Plus, this is not all the fees for Platycleis from Crete. I didn't manage to keep alive the first couple I caught near the town of Gouves. Now I'll post more photos.

Second photo: this blacksmith. Suddenly, something will become clear...
Third: a certain female and a female from Gouves.

It seems similar. Well, I don't have any other ideas for Crete. But with the latter it is very difficult to say, since they have already dried up and their defining organs are difficult to distinguish.

2 kotbegemot:
1) Regarding Ailopus - in my opinion, the latter is also thalassinus.
2) About the short-winged skate. Oh, I've read this revision of Defoe - in my opinion, it only shows that molecular methods in taxonomy are not fully developed. For me, it still remains Chorthippus - until they explain to me the wild "shuffling" of grasses and skates, which does not agree with the morphology at all.

Thank you. By the shape of the pronotum, this is clearly O. laxmanni (one of the two species known to me in Southern Russia). The ashy color of the outer part of the back thighs and shins is embarrassing. It seems that many individuals seen many years ago in Kalmykia and in the east of the Rostov region had black eyes, but I might have forgotten. On this trip, I met them at another point in the north of the Rostov region and in Taman, but, unfortunately, I didn't take them off, they didn't seem unusual in any way, unlike this one.

20.07.2015 10:35, PVOzerski

The question of the independence of O. laxmanni and O. servillei has not yet been resolved. Someone would compare the acoustics, or something...

Here is a grasshopper caught in the frame. Tatarstan July 19, 2015
Who could it be?

20.07.2015 13:19, PVOzerski

Locust of the genus Stenobothrus

Stenobothrus lineatus maybe?

Please tell me _1 and _2 Conocephalus fuscus, and _3 Conocephalus dorsalis right?

21.07.2015 10:19, PVOzerski

According to swordsmen: the lower one is an adult female C. fuscus, the upper ones are larvae (I think the same fuscus).

In terms of grass, it is also similar to lineatus, but I don't know this genus very well, so I will refrain from making certain statements.

No, this is not Chorhippus, this is Myrmeleotettix maculatus-pay attention to the tips of the antennae
The female, apparently, is really busy laying eggs, and the male simply controls the process wink.gifso that everything is done "as it should"

1. The blue-winged filly-Oedipoda caerulescens-is not a grasshopper, but a locust.
2. Grey grasshopper-Decticus verrucivorus-still a grasshopper.
Still, you should specify the shooting location. If, for example, it was shot in Western Europe, there may be other options. And if beyond the Urals, then I generally pass.
