And you need to use at least some kind of camera with the "macro" function.

And my blacksmiths are like, you haven't identified them yet, there first goes chorthippus sp,decticus verrocivorus and tettigonia caudata, but I can't identify those locusts.

03.06.2016 15:31, PVOzerski

In Chorthippus, you really want to clearly see the lateral keels of the pronotum (but you can't: the angle is not good or there is not enough clarity). I suspect the biguttulus/brunneus group (this is if the keels are "broken", otherwise dorsatus). I agree with the definition of grasshoppers.

Nikita, this is Empusa pennicornis. E. fasciata is found only on the Black Sea coast.
In the photo, the male, they are just now molting on the adult.

06.06.2016 10:40, никитатимошев

Tell me, where does ruspolia nitidula live, where to find it when the first imagos are born?

06.06.2016 13:15, ИНО

When imagos appear in your area, I can't tell you, because there, you have already grown up locusts, and we still have a grain of wheat. And you need to look in places with high meadow vegetation, and in the dark. Until sunset, you will find figs, they are very secretive. But at dusk, males climb to the tops of grass blades and stridulate loudly, it is easy to find and catch, only a flashlight is needed.

06.06.2016 15:27, никитатимошев

I know that Ruspolia are night blacksmiths, and I watched a video of them chirping. In the reeds at night, ten Ruspolias jump out from one step, and I have a place in the field where they are few.I also caught an archiptera microptera yesterday,it was 31 mm long.Yesterday we went fishing,on the way back near the corn we met a lot of imago Locusta migratoria.

06.06.2016 18:21, PVOzerski

On the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus (okr. Tuapse) Ruspolia I came across quite a day on lawns with lush vegetation (meso - and hygrophytic, to put it more strictly). At the end of July, they were just in the mass (although, perhaps, such a successful year fell out), at the end of August they did not meet often anymore. And in the 80s. I found them in Adler right on the lawns in the city.

06.06.2016 20:48, никитатимошев

And when our imago molts ruspolia,in early July, in mid-July or at the end of July.

07.06.2016 1:05, ИНО

PVOzerski, probably, there is an exorbitant population density. In our country, however, I have seen only one female in the daytime for many years, in the autumn, and then for a long time I thought that this species was extremely rare. But once I had to stay in the beam until deep dusk, when I immediately heard an unfamiliar stridulation, and a massive one at that. Shone a flashlight - male ruspoliya. Mowed with a net - several at once. During the day, I mowed in the same place more than one hundred times, I came across many different straight-winged ones, but not Ruspolia. Obviously, they were close to the ground and held on tightly.

Nikita, but why are these photos here, if you yourself know perfectly well the species of grasshoppers? There is also a separate thread on the forum, "Images of insects". What prevents you from posting them there instead of here? Here, as a rule, post photos of those who ask to identify or check the definition of insects.

1. Parapholidoptera antaliae?
Parapholidoptera antaliae, Turkey, May, on the slopes near the city of Manavgat (Antalya). It was found in large numbers, dominating other large grasshoppers. Curiously, there were very few white-fronted grasshoppers, isophia and sawtails were found in large numbers, but locally, tettigonia dominated in cereal crops. The area is very cultivated, what did not go under crops is used as pasture, once the dybka larva was found in a place inaccessible to grazing.

2. I suspect the genus Orchamus, right? I don't remember posting it here when I caught it. Two years later, unexpectedly in the beginning of summer, the offspring of a female hatched, which I barely found and was even afraid of the size of the locust I saw.

Nikita, where did you get the term "predimago" - from mayflies, or something (they have a" subimago " - in the sense of just)? The life cycle of an erect-winged bird is as follows: a pre - larva emerges from the egg, quickly discards the general shell and becomes a larva (synonym-nymph). Larvae are usually divided into protonyms (younger than the penultimate larval age) and deutonyms (penultimate and last ages; in winged species, it is in deutonyms that the rudiments of the wings are lifted up). After the last deitonifal age, molting on the adult follows. And no predimago smile.gif

PVOzerski, score "predimago" in Google - learn a lot of new things. The term is probably not academic, but it is very well-established. But about proto - and deutonyms, thank you for your enlightenment, I used to know such words only in relation to ticks.

For preimago and imago, you need to look at the teeth of the ovipositor, that hole had no teeth, which means it is a preimago, only the imago has teeth at the end of the ovipositor.
