Photos of this size can't be detected by clicking on them! The first two, apparently Melanotus sp. The third - ...? Lay out the normal size!

24.10.2010 15:08, Fornax13

The first two are Melanotus type rufipes
and the third is poorly visible. PRGR seams. how does it work?

Hycleus quatuordecimpunctatus is the ultimate option! You just don't have anything more like it! And the pattern varies widely. So not "Thank you for that", but just "Thank you" smile.gif

The first two are Melanotus castanipes (Paykull, 1800) .

The third nutcracker is Danosoma fasciata L. or conspersa Gyll. To determine the appearance, you need to look at the keels in the posterior corners of the pronotum.

Hi, everybody

Is it possible to identify a beetle without a photo? a very common animal, a small bug, about 3 mm long. Elytra with a metallic sheen, green or blue. pronotum is light brown or orange. we used to call them "fireflies" when we were kids, but now we're just wondering who they really are...

Please help me determine the type of beetle:

It is not more than a centimeter and therefore the photoaparate could not clearly shoot. The top is dark blue (almost black), and the bottom is dark purple.

It seems Chrysolina some

25.10.2010 15:19, vasiliy-feoktistov

Chrysolina sturmi Westhoff, 1882 similar? But the photo would be bigger and sharper. It's hard to say for sure.

25.10.2010 16:05, Mychail

I think it's him. Very similar.
This is the best photo I've ever seen...

Thanks!

I hope that someone else comes here...
I found here in this topic a photo of the larvae of a soft-bodied beetle. I think I found something similar for a couple of days at my dacha (Krasnodar Territory, Gelendzhik). What do you think he is? And if it is, which one is it? Because in my photo it is clearly darker...
P.S. this is it on the apple core sitting )))
Thank you.

The photo is extremely unclear, so it is far from a fact that this is a Chrysolina sturmi. It should be possible to use the determinant to drive by keys. Maybe it's something like Chrysolina carpatica or something close to it. Isn't Uzhgorod listed on the label? By the way, does the beetle have wings? If not, it's definitely not sturmi.

Yes, it is extremely difficult to see from these photos yes.gif
Here I want to offer a person a couple of photos of Stormy (Carpathia is not found unfortunately).

I tried to drive it along the determinant, discarded most of the species because mine has noticeable hairs on the abdomen, I go out for Harpalus froelichii Sturm, 1818 or Harpalus brevis Motschulsky, 1844, but I have never seen them. mol.gif
