Well, at the expense of the species you need to think, and the genus Anthia.
But you shouldn't have opened a separate topic, for this there is a special topic "identifying beetles by photo".

Anthia mannerheimi Chaudoir, 1842 (similar), but India (don't know if it's there) confused.gif

Unfortunately, I can't post a better photo yet. Help me determine then at least up to the genus.

smile.gif I think it's something like Hypnoidus sp.

Wow.. rolleyes.gif I've never seen it.
Well, I'm also talking about Lampiris. But those flying from the south must be Luciola.

In the south, males of both species glow, including in flight, that's for sure. Luciola is brighter, of course.

I also thought that Agrypnus murinus (Linnaeus, 1758), but then I read that the beetle from Thailand...
I agree with Agriotes sp

05.11.2010 16:09, Buzman

Ah, well, then of course not murinus - for some reason I didn't notice that this is Thailand.

On Agrypnus, miginisa doesn't match the identifier, but I don't have any reference books for the tropics.

There are speculations on Meloe violaceus, Meloe proscarabaeus and Meloe brevicollis. The latter is less certain.

Here is another photo of violaceus. maybe it will be more accurate
And here is a photo of the "black" proskarabeus. Please tell me what is intraspecific? they are larger in size than female T-shirts of blue color, as it seemed to me. When I met them, there were 3 blue cars nearby and a black car 200 meters away.
What is likely violaceus in general in another place.
And what should you pay attention to when defining T-shirts, especially Proscarabeus & Violaceus?

IMG_0901.jpg and IMG_0837.jpg " in my opinion, violaceus is just
the opposite - proscarabeus.
These two species differ from all our T-shirts by the extended (in the male also strongly curved) middle parts of the mustache. They differ from each other, first of all, in sculpture - in proscarabeus it is clearly rougher (punctuation of the head and prsp. and wrinkling of the ndkr.) and its metallic luster is weakly expressed.
