I believe Chrysolina aurichalcea (Mannerheim, 1825)

Somehow 8 mm is too much for her.

for comparison, the larva found under the bark belongs to the butterfly Cossus cossus.

For the collector, a beetle found in April, in rabbit dung, Geotrupes. To determine the appearance, you need to look at the claws and the underside of the front shins. Suspicion of stercorarius.

just a little more, then.

I doubted Rhantus ' account. Can I cut the edge of the pronotum and take a picture of the mid-posterior chest? According to the elytra pattern, it resembles notaticollis.

picture: DSCN8764_.jpg
picture: DSCN8765_.jpg

I understand that frontalis is characterized by dark lines that should stand out against the background of mottled dots. But it seems that the color of sternites is yellow, which is noted for this species. And what exactly should be photographed from below? The lateral edge of the pronotum is weakly expressed as I can understand.

09.10.2011 18:11, botanque

I was able to see the bottom in the previous photo, and the photo of the side confirmed my guess. It's still a frontalis, a female. Usually, two longitudinal yellow lines on the elytra are more or less visible in the frontalis. Notaticollis is uniformly pock-marked, with wider metastern wings and a sharply marked border on the side of the pronotum.

I also thought of fuliginosus at first, but the specimen is too small, and the view doesn't seem to go that far to the east. I have Siberian ilibiuses, but I haven't dealt with them yet. Now I'll look at something similar in the box.

10.10.2011 19:06, botanque

Ilibius is indeed very similar to fuliginosus, but the specimen is suspiciously small. We'll assume it's him. Of the others, I found only I. lateralis.
