It looks like it, of course. But why such a head tube???

24.11.2007 13:09, Дзанат

I looked - the dots on the head are not tangled, but go in rather neat rows. What will be your final verdict? smile.gif

I looked at the other signs. it may come in handy.
In S. zeamays, the width of the prsp is slightly larger than its length. The 2nd part of the flagellum of the antennae is longer than the 1st. beetle slaboblestyaschiy. spots on the ndkr. are sharply limited.

In Sitophilus oryzae, the width of the prsp is less than or equal to its length. The 2nd part of the flagellum of the antennae is equal in length to the 1st. the beetle is matte. spots on the NDCR. not clear, not clearly defined.

Please help me clarify what kind of Ropalopus is. There is a suspicion that it is R. macropus.

What's the size?

24.11.2007 22:45, Nilson

Somewhere 17 mm

25.11.2007 0:25, omar

Too much for him. Actually, it doesn't look very similar. But I don't KDG frown.gif

25.11.2007 15:03, amara

I'm sorry that I'm not an expert, but if I read Reitter correctly, Rhopalopus clavipes F. (16-22mm) differs from Rh. macropus in that it has 3 to 10 segments of antennae at the top ending in a spike. Doesn't look like it?
Then I looked it up, and it was the same in the green.

You're right, Amara. Actually, the key for this kind and in green works like. But it looks even less like Rhopalopus clavipes. This, I think, is something from the south. I am still very confused by the greenish glow on the elytra. It's not clear, maybe it's just a feature of photographing this?

25.11.2007 18:29, RippeR

I don't know if there is something similar in Montenegro, except for clavipes or makropus, but this one goes under clavipes.. by spines. Other types, like either with red el-mi, or with metal (elytra).. this one seems to be doing just fine.

25.11.2007 18:34, Nilson

Apparently, this is R. clavipes, as a pity... On the sides of the breast presternum are long hairs (poorly visible in the photo), and even among a small series of these beetles collected in one place, at one time, there are specimens about 20 mm in size, and macropus, it seems, up to 17 mm. Spines on the mustache, again, there is. I was confused by the fact that the Danilevsky list for the Balkans contains exactly R. macropus.

25.11.2007 19:46, omar

macropus does not reach even 17 mm umnik.gif

omar and amara are right. This is not R. macropus. A photo of R. macropus Germ. posting it. Sorry for the quality. Label - Tula region, Southern district of Tula. June 2005 Body length 11 mm.

Well, it's worth leaving - there's already a fight... You have a female clavipes.
and in the Danilevsky list for the Balkans - and clavipes and macropus and 4 more species. Update the version.

Right here http://www.biolib.cz/cz/taxon/id190754/
there is a list of Rhopalopus species with an indication of the countries (in Polish) where they occur and some with an image.

Omar, can you tell me one thing - do you often communicate with Danilevsky? It's just that your awareness of his work is amazing...

26.11.2007 10:09, Nilson

Well, live for a century and learn for a century. Thank you all.

No, I don't communicate at all. But the list of sawyers of the Moscow region suggests various sad thoughts. A lot of things are very, very controversial. I would appreciate it if you disappoint me. I'll even apologize right here. I can give you a list of dubious species, for which it is not clear where he leads them and where clearly defined specimens are. I also expressed my opinion about his new book, which I saw, and explained why my position does not coincide, say, with the enthusiasm of the respected Lobanov. It seems that this is not forbidden? In a word, " Judge them according to their deeds "(c). If the quote is not confused.

Where's that?" I want to read it.

26.11.2007 17:09, KDG

Dear KDG, I will not hide the fact that recently I have greatly expanded the range of my acquaintances, primarily in the entomological field. Although I think you've already figured that out. However, a large tidbit remained not yet covered - the personal office. But my powers will reach him, too. In fact, in my new chair, I became an advanced amateur, from a very modest and pathetic one. Frequent foreign business trips of my colleagues at work "across the river" also significantly untie my hands. So it was this time. If you don't already have this book, I can provide it for you. Send it to where? I think the opportunity will appear in a week or two. When it will reach you, I don't know, but expedited parcels (on Budden's advice) go, as practice has shown, no more than a week, even to the Far East (Dina will not let you lie). So get the book in a month at most, most likely. From where? How? for now, I will modestly keep silent. On this end stupid flood. I will delete this message after you read it.

Don't be nervous.. I have the book, thank you for offering to help. I assumed that you had written critical notes on it somewhere, and I wanted to read them. And everything.
As for the Moscow list, as far as I remember (there is no article in front of my eyes), there were indicated finds considered doubtful with an indication of the fact of doubtfulness. As for other comments about the work of M. L., it is better to make them being well acquainted with the work process and well versed in the group. You yourself reproached the comrade Cerambyx for arguing with you about some darkling without being an expert on Tenebrionidae....

No about 5-6mm.

30.11.2007 12:46, amara

Another question is whether these beetles do not have simple eyes at the back edge of the eyes?

30.11.2007 12:52, Трофим

Since I'm not at home, I'll check it out when I get home.

30.11.2007 12:53, Mylabris

Maybe someone from the Endomychidae?

30.11.2007 12:55, omar

Endomychidae? eek.gif

30.11.2007 12:56, Трофим

No, I don't think so, but I'll just come home and take a look.

30.11.2007 12:59, Mylabris

Did you collect them on flowers? I once typed on similar colors, with a simple eye, but smaller-3-4 mm. I couldn't find out. At first I thought it was staffs, but then I got tired of thinking...

30.11.2007 13:27, Bad Den

no, this is definitely Staphylinidae
, I once tried to identify similar ones as well...

30.11.2007 13:29, Mylabris

And at least managed to reach the end? I didn't go green at all...

30.11.2007 14:52, amara

I (not an expert at all) thought of something close to Omaliinae, e.g. Phyllodrepoidea (in shape).

In short, if the beetle has eyes (two), and you have "green", then try from point 14 (p. 112).
There are not many genera and species with sizes of 5-6 mm.

Is it covered in plastic? It's unnatural, and you can't see the needles...
