And yet, in my opinion, this is castaneum-the pronotum is shiny, not matte, like in fuscum.

I don't know, it seems to me more wrinkled and dotted in this photo, and somehow the overall impression tends more towards fuscum-y.

Good evening! Please help me identify a pair of cows!

And why such unequivocal confidence in cerdo?

I think on cerdo for Greece first of all. Or maybe scopoli (which is unlikely): here is a sin, the size did not ask smile.gifOr there is still someone from them?

cylindricum, of course. In the Arkhangelsk region, persicum simply does not exist.

Thank you. In general (purely out of curiosity and for educational purposes), are there any significant external differences between them?

I didn't hold persicum myself. Take a look at these links:
persicum - http://unmondeencouleurs.piwigo.com/index?...um_reitter_1902
cylindricum - http://unmondeencouleurs.piwigo.com/index?...m_linnaeus_1735

Yes, thanks. It was on this site that I tried to find the differences yesterday. And even though I was pointed out a few days before to cylindricum, it still stubbornly seemed that mine was more like persicum, although I perfectly understand where Iran is and where the Arkhangelsk region rolleyes.gifis

Well, if something happens, there is a peach closer - in Armenia (Dilijan) and Azerbaijan (Lenkoran)... But it is definitely not possible to take him to Arkhangelsk by trainsmile.gif)))) as a "hare".

Is it really the male Odonteus (=Odontaeus) armiger Scopoli, 1772 ? This is very northerly for him.

From what? It's not quite north. That's what he is. This year I caught a female armiger in the Rostov region of the Yaroslavl region. And in the south of the Moscow region, it is caught not only often, but regularly, albeit only sporadically (even judging by the reports on fishing on the forum in recent years). But the singularity is more likely related to the beetle's lifestyle.

Ilybius. With such a pattern and size, most likely I. ater. The dimensions, in my opinion, are slightly overstated.
