Ashen undergarments, iranica / graucasica. Somehow they later flew out. I was there at the end of July-beginning of August, one melancholic woman flew up.

Good afternoon.
Thank you so much for identifying the butterfly. During 8 days (from August 16 to August 24) of festivities in the vicinity of Terskol, I managed to see 3 individuals of Erebia melancholica, and 4 individuals of Erebia iranica. In general, 50-50.
Interesting butterflies for you.

Among the" similar Chilo and Schoenobius " most likely were cicatricella of ordinary color.
Wasn't there a storm before that?"

Storms are not uncommon in these areas. How can a storm affect the color of grasslands?
And what is the usual coloration for F. cicatricella? My collection contains a small number of Chilo and Schoenobius specimens, although they were collected in other years. If you would like to view them, you can do so via email. Send your email via Send a Personal Message on the forum member's personal page, and I'll send you a photo of my Chilo and Schoenobius photos from my email address. Perhaps F. cicatricella will be among them. smile.gif

A storm can bring a lot of butterflies.
And you can also post photos here, why complicate it?

I have 6 copies in my collection. Chilo and 9 Schoenobius. There will be a total of 15 images.
I've heard a lot about the transfer of butterflies over long distances by the winds. Do you think that F. cicatricella was also blown to Svetly Erik by the wind? This tract is a flood of water from the Kuma River in its lower reaches: shallow lakes, meadows and wetlands in the zone of sandy semi-desert. Therefore, there live different ecological groups of lepidoptera: from desert xerophiles to hygrophiles. And Scirpus lacustris-a forage plant of F. cicatricella grows there. IMHO, this is a rare butterfly, despite its rather extensive European range, so it has not been registered here for a long time. But again, this is all speculation.
So what? Upload photos? smile.gif

Show me, it's interesting. But you can probably have several butterflies in one photo-it will be faster!

I upload a series of Chilo images. I already managed to make them individually.

Alas! That something similar to F. cicatricella arrived on that particular night can now only be assumed. confused.gif
If you'll excuse me, I'll put up the pictures of the Shenobiuses tomorrow. The camera's battery is dead. I put it on a charge.

I exhibit photos of Schoenobius herbs from my collection collections. Are they defined correctly?

Yes, that's also true.

I also want to add that representatives of the genera of herbivores Chilo and Schoenobius are quite common in our country. And in late spring and the first half of summer, they often fly en masse to the light. So that night, when Friedlanderia suddenly started flying towards the light screen, I paid attention to their original color. Among the similar-shaped wings, but probably hairless, almost all were Chilo and Schoenobius. It is impossible, however, to exclude that hairless Friedlanderia could also fly up. But how was I supposed to know that there were such things, too? If there is a similar chance in the future, I will try to get a larger sample of similar ones to check this version.
Now it is important for me that I did not miss a rare herbage that is new for the Stavropol region. Thank you again for defining it. smile.gif .

Tell me, please, is it Agonopterix purpurea or A. cnicella?
I identified it as Agonopterix cnicella, but Wikipedia says that A. cnicella flies in June-July. This one was found in September. By the time it flies, it fits on A. purpurea, but it is much larger than all the A. purpurea I have seen, and it fits on A. cnicella in size.
Found on September 10 in Kiev.
