Yes, I guess I was in a hurry. The grossa and the bristles on the belly are larger and the head is yellower and it is pure black. I don't know then what to assume confused.gif

As far as I can see, the eyes are covered in hairs-tenax

the presence of hair on the eyes is not a distinctive feature of tenax, so we will wait for a more authoritative definition

This is certainly not tenax. A distinctive feature of tenax is two strips of hair on each eye in both sexes. Of the Palearctic species, this is the only one. I don't really see any identifying features in this specimen - it looks like pratorum, or any other species... Arista is definitely long-feathered, the facial stripe seems barely visible from this angle, the stigma is almost too long... Divination!

Do you see a black dot on the front edge of the wing, about in the middle? This is a stigma (pterostigma)

Well, if our Pirx pilot can't finish with the holidays, then I'll have to use my brain. Could it be Sphecomyia vespiformis?

I never caught it. Envy. I wish myself in the new year to meet such a one.

To be honest, I didn't doubt it. So, the stupid habit of giving people the opportunity to check for themselves and think a little. It's probably boring when they chew you up and put it in your mouth smile.gif
