I would very much like someone to help me identify this caterpillar. They ate the leaves of the Manchurian walnut, there were also cocoons on the leaves.

1-Sawfly
2-Euthrix potatoria
3-Moma alpium
7 - Amphipyra pyramidea or berbera

16.07.2007 20:38, AntSkr

2 - Euthrix potatoria

I didn't think it was her... probably a young age, the size of the caterpillar is about 2.5 cm...

Yeah. It's still small.

16.07.2007 22:20, AntSkr

by the way, Amphipyra was photographed on a stock rose (such a flower), eating its leaves...

17.07.2007 9:37, Zhuk

4,6 - Melanchra persicariae

They do not eat anything, but it is more likely that it is pyramidea.

Maybe it's too late for information on this caterpillar smile.gif

The other day in a soil trap in a swamp caught two of these larvae. Please tell me who it is? Her legs are oddly spaced.

Figase! And what are her legs on her back?! lol.gif

30.07.2007 14:50, Dinusik

That's what confused me! And it's not just one, there are two of them! What is this strange mutation?!!!

30.07.2007 14:51, Zhuk

In my opinion, this is not a mutation. It's just that her head is so oddly shaped and it seems to be the other way around.

30.07.2007 14:54, Dinusik

But the oral organs should be at the bottom, and here it's the opposite. This is the first time I've seen this!

30.07.2007 15:03, omar

This is the larva of a water lover from the genus Hydrous

No, it's good that it's not a mutant! And then thoughts creep into my head-what if the Chinese did something wrong again? Khabarovsk is still dealing with phenol.

30.07.2007 16:19, Kortes

1 - maybe Acronycta leporina
2-Cucullia sp
4-Cucullia lychnitis (and maybe scropulariae, they are so muddy). But the fact that both are from the Schargacucullia group is for sure.

I found a caterpillar in the yard(though not me, but my dog)))). Brownish-gray, shimmering like gasoline in puddles. There are two headbands around the head - a small red one and a blue one. On the back there are two lozenges (white stripes) Not hairy, just paws. In structure, etc. (except for color) is very similar to the caterpillar Papilio machaon orientis!!! I looked it up on the Internet, but I didn't find one.. Suddenly I came across your forum, and read that you keep them in banks. Ran with the jar for the caterpillar, and it was gone! I searched the yard floor and found nothing. In general, here are the photos (SORRY FOR THE POOR QUALITY), and a note - I live on the Baltic Sea coast. Around the sand, a little grass sea, pines, birches, linden trees, acacias, aspens and a lot of moss. the image is no longer on the site: Image019.jpg

This is a caterpillar of some crested bird from the Stauropinae. Next time, write to classification of insects => definition of caterpillars.
