They feed on birch catkins, so on young branches, probably.

I don't know about wrestling.

Dear Musolin,

I just found an article on a local website (thanks to your suggestion for the Latin name). It turns out that this year is really a "plague" of birch beetles. They try to fight them with nematodes, but this is an experimental method. Others, they write, at the moment simply do not exist. Sorry... frown.gif

24.08.2014 22:14, Dmitrii Musolin

yes, nematodes - this is clearly experimental and far from widespread practice smile.gif

There are hardly any effective methods, because they are volatile... And sprinkle and soak yourself with chemicals is not worth it...

I want to add that this insect is completely flat. from the head to the edges of the body come thread-like black stripes (in the photo they merged), I assume that they are to fill with blood:-). no claws visible.

What beetles are considered rare in the European part of Russia?
In the Middle Volga region in the Ulyanovsk region, the blackthorn shield, Jalla dumosa L., was found (Antoshin, 2008).

found it in the next section of the forum. this is an agras tick, presumably a Settlement tick (Ornithodoros papillipes).

Unlike who? The macrorclub's versions are untenable. The instance shown in the images fully matches the description. The view is not very widespread and I did not find it in the network of photos.
