Tell me, please, whether there are any special stretch cloths for catching on light and where they can be purchased?

These are the ones shown above in the photos.

If this question is for me, then I will tell you this; I have never seen special canvases for the screen on sale. Rather, it is necessary to ask the studio. I bought fabric in the store /Curtains/, the cheapest, it is within 200 rubles. (2.5*3м.). This material was not strong enough, obviously you need to take a stronger one (it was also in the store, it cost a little more, about 300 rubles.). My calico is only good for planting butterflies, they do not have very hard cocottes. Every arrival of beetles, my calico took as an insult. We had to intercept them on the approach, and if it was not possible, then we did not hurry to remove them from the screen, because the fabric is liquid and if you pull the beetle, then only together with a piece of the screen.
And so, the fabric can be selected in any store (Fabrics, Curtains). And at home hem it to fit.

thank you! And here is a pore for the screen, what do you make it out of? From some metal rods.

There's no point in writing again. Take a look at page 28 in this topic.I explained everything there in an accessible way.

Fishing on DRL-125 V. If there are years, then put at least 400 V. the effect will be exactly the same! But, I noticed that on a regular incandescent lamp 100 Watts. fly completely different butterflies!?? And protect your eyes with dark wide-brimmed caps or glasses. Of course, you need a flashlight for fishing in the border area of the lamp. It seems to be all...

Specifically looking for an ultraviolet lamp, not capricious in terms of operation, and in which stores to look for it? I thought that someone would say something specific. And in general, should it be used in the presence of drl?

16.04.2011 10:11, okoem

which stores should I look for it in?

In lamp stores.

This issue has already been discussed more than once. Best of all, and without any hassle, use economical UV lamps (as an example: DeLux EBT-01 26W, E27, ultraviolet), an ordinary base-screwed into a regular cartridge. It can be used either from the generator, battery, or from the mains.
They are sold in stores that specialize in electrical equipment and lighting fixtures.

Is worth. It works well on its own. when working with DRL on the part where the UFLAMP is located, there are almost always more insects.

please write specific models of UV tubes (not black)

For example here - http://www.aquatis.ru/sea/equipment/section.php?ID=1662
Well, you can also find it in Google for the query "bactericidal UV lamp"

17.04.2011 21:56, RippeR

well, yes, such white ones - for example, as in tanning salons, they are not bactericidal, are they?

All nocturnal lamps until the year 06 were bought for bactericidal lamps - in nature, 8 or 15 watts from the battery, in the dachas of friends for 30 watts.
The same hard UV as the pricked DRL, only the power is less.

17.04.2011 22:19, svm2

And unless there are "not black" not bactericidal?

Before I switched to DRL, I used a UV lamp from the scanner together with an 8-watt bacterocidal lamp, it is white and thin with a power handkerchief, which gave out 800v, which it was lit with (somewhere 4-5 watts).
The high voltage sometimes bit and was afraid of rain.

Good Morning ,
We use this type of ultraviolet light here - the lamp is VITO product , the info is in Russian language , very cheap - 1 euro per lamp . I think you can find them for sale in your country as well ! It works with 12 V battery .

I will never forget how Alexander Roganin and I, when we were young, tried to use a UV lamp to decontaminate medical facilities for butterfly fishing! Catch in protective glasses, you know, + all the little things: mosquitoes, flies, bedbugs, etc., etc. They burned terribly, and after half an hour there was such a stench as if we were roasting a sheep alive... We should write this story in stories...

Hello!
I'm still new to this field, and I'm just going to start the collection from this season.
In general, I studied the forum and specifically this thread, too, in which conversations on the topic of battery vs generator surfaced several times. someone claimed that it was more mobile with batteries, etc.
I decided to build a circuit similar to the one described by okoem (#871).
but after looking at the weight characteristics of lead-acid batteries at 12 volts, I realized that their mobility is still nothing more.
Take for example one of the most common companies, Delta
, so they have a 12V/40Ah battery weighs 13.8 kg, and a 65 Ah capacity is already 22 kg!
yes, and the size( at 65ach for example 348*168*178 mm) not too small.

I myself want to buy a battery with a capacity of 12 Ah, which in theory according to this scheme (like the usual savings bank) should be enough for about 5 hours of work, which is quite enough for me.

Nocturnal butterflies (Nabokov)

I remember the evenings at the beginning of the fall of leaves,
the night depth of the yearning garden,
where the oak tree alone is still thick with leaves,
and the misty dense darkness melts
under its branches, and the tender nocturnal
birds still fly to it in the purple sleepy hour:
invisible eyelashes flutter in the dark
, fluffy ghosts flutter...
I am preparing a bait for you,
night butterflies:
anticipating a successful catch in the morning,
I mix drunk beer in half
with warmed molasses, then add rum.

And in the garden I go out to the mists, wonders,
and sticky gold I smear on the damp
oak trunk, and the brush drips juice,
creeps along the cracks, shiny and fragrant...
The saffron ball of the moon rises from behind a cloud,
and the oak tree, my accomplice, is wide and tall.
He has absorbed more than one earthly dream;
I am waiting in the purple haze, and he is waiting with me.

And then, mysteriously-suddenly, like the fall
of a star, thoughtfully-silently, like the flight
of a flower cannon-one, then another
small shadow glides, turning white and blinking:
gray moths are born in the darkness.
I point the circle of a pocket light bulb at the trunk
and see: five nocturnal birds take in the dope juice,
blissfully releasing their twisted proboscis
and raising their gray wings on a pink lining
, numb, and suddenly, with a flutter of their wings,
they disappear into the darkness - and again
they fly easily to the sweet smell. I stand in front of the trunk,
carefully watch their semi-explicit outfit,
color and pattern, and, having chosen a moth,
I splash the smooth
whitish gauze of a wide net over the bark itself.

A wonderful watch! The delight of remembering!
The soul is worried... Latin names
swirl in my head, and the night is warm, muddy...
Hanging in the swollen gloom of the lemon moon huge.
In the distance, between the branches, behind the flower beds, behind the dark
landing, three windows in the manor house are lit.
From there, at the proper hour, you can call out to me,
say that it's time to go to bed, and look out of the window
and see: a black garden, a careful flashlight,
a whitish spot of a glimpse of a net...

And I return with my prize of air:
life still knocks on the walls of the box,
ether pours on the cotton wool, cold, sweetly stuffy,
under my breast I take a little moth, -
it weakens, it goes out, - a winged man,
and in the cork gap between the lime boards
of capture I carefully stick in a row.

Go to sleep, little wings, big-eyed heads,
and the thinnest ties!..
Here is a plump silkworm,
pockmarked like a dead leaf, here are the wings of a black
owl with a pearl izhitsa on a knotted vein,
here is a tiny fan with a fringe of light,
here is a meek old man, a nun in a dark cassock,
and here is their princess, the bride of the breeze:
two ribbons of velvet on pink satin,
a flamingo fluff on the tip of her belly...

Thank you, gentle ones!.. As the years passed,
you melted with warmth and flared up again.
I felt an indescribable love,
dreamily bending over your rows
in glass boxes, fragrant and dry,
like the light leaves of large faded bibles
with faded flowers embedded in them...
I don't know, moths, perhaps you have perished;
mildew and moth have entered, worms have eaten
up, wings and legs and legs have broken -
or rough hands have opened the cherished scale
and the glass has cracked - and you are turned
into a colored handful of fragrant dust...

I do not know, gentle ones, but from a strange land
I look into the depths of a longing garden;
I remember evenings at the beginning of the fall of leaves,
and my oak in the meadow, and the smell of honey,
and the yellow moon above the black branches,
and I cry, and fly, and in the twilight I
hover with you and breathe under the tender leaves.

I bought 25W UV lamps made as a savings bank, the wavelength is written on the box-365.3 times used in the city, connected in the parking lot, there are 42 6-meter lanterns on it dnat-100 lamp, orange glow, it flew well on mine, about 1.5 km to the birch forest.the second lamp I have-sberegayka85vt.

12.05.2011 13:54, pmc7027

Hello! A couple of weeks ago, I started my experiments with the DRL lamp (through the throttle, of course). First I bought a PHILIPS lamp (analog DRL-250), then (in stock) a real DRL-250 made by LISMA (it seems to be...). The conclusions are as follows.
1. Caught (with my brother) 4 nights. On a nice warm night, the flight is very good, however, there was only one such night so far. This intensity of summer was not present last year, when we started using incandescent and energy-saving lamps. I'm very impressed, and summer hasn't even started yet!
2. LISMA is a complete mess compared to PHILIPS. The light is yellowish (it is inconvenient to take photos), and the light output is half as high.
3. While not really "adjusted" the white canvas. Temporarily we use gray cardboard. In this regard, a question for experienced catchers: do you need to use COTTON fabric? Does surface roughness matter? I will be grateful for detailed answers/advice.

IMHO, insects do not care about the chemical composition of the fabric and the structure of its surface. smile.gif

And will they be able to catch their paws on a smooth surface? Or will they circle around, unable to sit down?

12.05.2011 17:03, okoem

And will they be able to catch their paws on a smooth surface?

They can. Why not, even if they're sitting on the window pane? smile.gif
IMHO, the best fabric should be light (this is if you wear it on yourself) and not shiny. It is very difficult to photograph on a shiny surface.

12.05.2011 21:21, captolabrus

White mask robe will solve all problems, get dressed and everything flies to you jump.gifAnd the curious do not come, just in case! I used two white sheets as a screen, now I'm going to make a screen out of calico , or from a white grid.

12.05.2011 22:35, kovyl

I'm thinking of making a screen made of fabric as for a net, so that when the wind gusts less sail (something like this, judging by the photos, V. Sinyaev uses).

20.05.2011 16:23, Seneka

Bleached HB has the highest UV reflection coefficient(~50%) of affordable fabrics available. Other fabrics either transmit (mesh) or absorb UV to a greater extent. However, as practice shows, the grid is also widely used and very effective. By weight, it is much lighter than calico, which is important for hiking and air travel.

And please tell me, at what time is it better to turn on the drl, and does it make any difference? I mean, wait until dark, or rather at dusk, nine o'clock, ten o'clock in the evening?

26.05.2011 22:40, Victor Gazanchidis

It is better to start at dusk, because some species come at this time. For example, Korscheltellus lupulina came to me at dusk. Males of the crimson cocoonworm generally go up to ten , later I did not catch them, proserpine also often comes at dusk, etc.

From May 28 to 29, I caught on the UGRA River, 1 cold-white savings of 45W and 4uf of 25W each,I lowered the power of the white source, but increased the power of uv. The result is positive that there are fewer flights past the screen, and the screen behaves more calmly white light IMHO-SHUHARIT THEM STOPUDOVO!

I carry a DRL-250 with me and a rather heavy throttle to it. Are there any such lamps with a built-in throttle?

07.06.2011 20:11, captolabrus

I haven't seen it with a built-in throttle. I have a question about the UFD, I bought a 25-watt savings bank, a black spiral with a standard base. There were still tubes, like daytime running lights but less wattage,........ this is actually what you need?, and then I didn't notice any changes in the summer. And does it make sense to hang such a UFO with a drl of 250 watts, especially if you split the flask at drlki? In general, something years near Kostroma is not yet impressive, as it is not intense and not rich in either species or quantity.

07.06.2011 21:51, Maksim M.

All savings with a start-up device, soft start-up.The stab drl is extremely dangerous when the catching character is outside the shelter, and the young UV does not lose its killing effect at short distances. With dew-fogs in June in the middle zone, the powerful UV source will not be visible to animals from afar, and many will also not reach the dew.Imho it is necessary to catch locally, without exposing yourself to antimony danger, the results of radiation exposure will not affect immediately, but after some time. For example-someone has cancer, another doesn't have an eng created, and so on...

07.06.2011 23:40, Bad Den

Well, I agree about skin cancer and eye damage, but with TB, the risk is lower than with sunbathing. But about "not worth eng finally" - imho, bent finally smile.gif
