On my account, all this slander + truth + justified and unjustified positions - There are no perfect people.. Judging someone is pointless, because there are a lot of other reasons to condemn you.. The special case of something does not define the whole.. And the whole, let's say, something good, does not mean that there is nothing wrong with it..

Carabus (Archiplectes) starckianus ssp. Ganglbauer 1886

I did not specify the subspecies, since the series was collected: Krasnodar Krai, Tuapse district, Semashkho 04. V. 2008, And according to some data, A. starckianus semaschoensis Zamotajlov et Imura lives there (I don't remember the year), but then this taxon was reduced to synonyms to A. starckianus theseus, but IMHO they are habitually separated, genitals looked up in the description ...
The distribution of A. starckianus theseus is between the Psekups and Afips rivers, the middle mountains and foothills of the Caucasus. It is common and prefers stony soils.

Carabus (Archiplectes) starcki Heyden, 1885

Cute little archipelago smile.gif
It is distributed in the Alpine zone on the Main ridge between Autl and Aishha, as well as on the Fisht massif.
These specimens were collected: Krasnodar Krai, GKPBZ, Aishkho pass h=2200m near the snowfall, which is interesting, traps stood overnight in a heavy downpour, but despite this, the activity of carabuses was high...

lives in the subalpine, is replaced above by A. kratkyi
This series is not quite typical of zolotarevi and has features similar to A. miroshnikovi, with genitals is also not easy, but so far it is zolotarevi, and then who knows... shuffle.gif

Thank you, Ruslan. It turns out from the subspecies made a view.

THEIR SACKS ARE QUITE SIMILAR with the nominative . that is, what would still be correct Archiplectes prometheus miroschnicovi

14.12.2008 21:57, Dorcadion

Ruslan, the Miroshnikovs I sent you have some similarities with A. basilianus, so the shape of the bag may be different from that of the "true" miroshnikovs.
Now Russian specialists distinguish it in a separate form... In general, I will probably repeat myself, but this is a young group, and individuals of the same species from different populations can differ even in bag size, and even sometimes form hybrids, a striking example is the hybrid between kalyuzhny and prometheus...

Carabus (Archiplectes) reitteri ssp. gagrinus Starck, 1894
(= gegicus Gottwald, 1985)
13-15.07.2005 Abkhazia, Gagrin district, Gega River valley. Kasatkin D. leg.
Practically - a typical location (for ssp. gegicus). Male - 30 mm, female-34 mm.

Previously, the view was displayed by me as Carabus (Archiplectes) satyrus Kurn., 1962.
(view from the reitteri complex). It looks like the definition is incorrect. Based on the book "Retezar Imre, 2008 The Carabus of Abkhazia, Caucasus (Coleoptera, Carabidae)", he compared in detail the shape of the lamela of edeagus and endophallus, as well as the localities of species. It turns out that this is a reitteri. Taxonomy - according to Brezina, although r eitteri ssp. gagrinus and r eitteri ssp. gegicus seems to have differences after all.

What is the difference between Carabus satyrus mtsaranus and Carabus satyrus duripshensis ?

27.12.2008 13:28, Aleksandr Safronov

What is the difference between Carabus satyrus mtsaranus and Carabus satyrus duripshensis ?

C. satyrus mtsaranus is on average larger in size, edeagus and endophallus structure, and localities. There are no obvious external differences.

What is the difference between Carabus satyrus mtsaranus and Carabus satyrus duripshensis ?

If you put the series of Carabus satyrus mtsaranus and Carabus satyrus duripshensis side by side, you will not confuse them. Carabus satyrus duripshensis is smaller and all some red-purple color (in any case, I have). The color of Carabus satyrus mtsaranus can vary from green and blue to gold and red.

14.01.2009 17:57, Nikolaj Pichugin

I apologize for the inaccuracy:
According to Imre Retezar's monograph "The Carabus of Abkhasia, Caucasus", Carabus satyrus duripshensis can also have many color variations.

15.01.2009 15:16, Cerega

Once again, many thanks to Mr. Retezar for his book. And when we can do it, and it's not even about money...
