And then he just took off. And I didn't promise to come back, so I sent the other one to the nearest palm tree, too.

Darwin is in the middle of the Dry season - it hasn't rained for almost two months, it's very cool at night, there are no more insects, even fewer of them. And if the absence of mosquitoes and sand flies is only pleasing, then the absence of beetles and butterflies upsets me. Not even dragonflies. frown.gif

Here a couple of weeks ago I found an unknown creature with a wonderful character in the kitchen at night, the creature did not run away and did not fly away, but sat in a large glass and probably felt like Dita von Teese, no less. lol.gif

The creature didn't want to get out of the glass, so it stuck its head out and resisted. It looked pitiful.

And then the creature discovered that I was very warm and loved me dearly, all it wanted to do was climb on top of me and stay there. But it's terribly inconvenient to take pictures of something on your head, so I was categorically against close contact with a local alien.

That's all. Then, as payment for the photo shoot, I allowed myself to warm up for half an hour and sent the creature to the ferns on the balcony. I'm afraid my husband wouldn't approve if I came into the bedroom at midnight with an alien mind on my head." lol.gif

Awesome photos! The creature is a male Tenodera sp., most likely T. australasiae (without looking at the genitals, it is difficult to say for sure smile.gif)

Thanks! smile.gif

With the genitals, yes, I forgot something and did not capture it, I stared into my eyes. I was sure that this is a girl, you need to somehow wean yourself to humanize insects. shuffle.gif

The new apartment has an offensively small number of insects, that's what it means far from the sea and a high floor. frown.gif

But finally there was a big gray flyer! For the beautiful character and perfect posing, the flying girl was named Klava, in honor, of course, of Claudia Schiffer. smile.gif

Agrius convolvuli (Linnaeus, 1758)
Hawk moth bindweed.
It is very widespread, one of the few species that exists in Australia and Europe. smile.gif
And indeed a lady, males are slightly more variegated and have twice as large antennae. smile.gif smile.gif

Thank you. smile.gif I always want to take pictures of insects, and the lens catches all the people-people-people... sometimes crocodiles.

There's a body. It was beautiful, though not at all alive.

Oh, and speaking of corpses! I have dry butterfly wings brought from trips are lying, somehow I completely forgot about them. We need to improve!

Oh, I've just remembered! Last week I photographed rocks at low tide, usually these rocks are under water, but here I was lucky - a big low tide and you can get into the bay. I saw a butterfly out of the corner of my eye.

user posted image

But while I was changing the lens, this and that capricious creature flew higher into the rocks, so there is only a bad unconvincing crop from a single frame.

Due to the fact that my Photobucket photo hosting account is suspended, a lot of images have become "gray squares", so I will gradually re-upload old images to my own account as much as I can. well.smugmug.com and update themes with disappeared images. At the same time, I'll shake the archives for unproven photos, suddenly something interesting is lying around.

A small but bright insect flew into the room.

Lepidoptera, Arctiidae, Ctenuchinae, Amata sp.
