Scientist I — Insecticide/Nematicide Research & Commericialization, AgraQuest, Inc. (Davis, CA, US)

Insects and mites cause significant crop losses in California, as well as other regions of the world. AgraQuest, Inc. is a successful Biopesticide company with microbial biofungicide and insecticide sales in the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

We are currently seeking a Research Scientist whose primary responsibility will be to focus on the basic biology of invertebrates, mode of action and structure/activity relationships of bioactive compounds, arthropod behavior, chemically-mediated growth promotion in plants, and the ecology of plant-invertebrate interactions. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with research experience in insect behavior.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the Entomology/Nematology team, which develops and supports new and proprietary natural product-based agricultural products. Working in close collaboration with other disciplines within the R&D group, the team develops and performs lab, greenhouse, and early-stage field trials, screens potential insecticides and nematicides, studies the interaction between invertebrates and host-plants, and supports the sales of existing products. A key component of the group’s responsibilities is the advancement of active candidates to early-stage development.

Excellent communication skills are required, as is a sense of passion for the rapid commercialization of new, first-in-class agricultural products. AgraQuest, Inc. has actively expanded its research infrastructure over the past 4 years, and the candidate will continue to identify new tools, techniques, and assays in an effort to more effectively develop novel and innovative crop protection products and solutions.
