Date and time, location shooting/catching: 2005-07-21 00:00:00, Russia, Moscow reg., Zheleznodorozhny city, at a floodplain meadow.

Photographer's comment: A curious form with a white spot on the orange band of the forewing: such happen to meet sometimes. Most Vanessa atalanta butterflies don't have this spot.

Surely this one was posted on molbiol as well as some other photos of mine. I'm registered there under my real name and surname (written in Latin letters and with hyphen). Didn't catch the butterfly, let it keep living, so can say nothing of its gender.

If I'm not wrong, this pic was posted on molbiol.ru about 1.5—2 years ago, the discussion included a comment by pro about males happened as well to have such spot.
