Date and time, location shooting/catching: 2012-07-07 00:00:00, Вологодская обл., Великоустюгский р-н., Юдинское поселение, правый берег речки Ямжи, окрестности д. Уржумово.

Photographer's comment: Тополевый адмирал - весьма хорош собой. Выйти на него удалось по кормовой базе. Мой приятель знал где находится купа черных тополей на месте бывшей усадьбы у заброшенной мельницы. Туда однажды мы целенаправленно и добрались. К огромной радости над нами периодически проносились "тополевые адмиралы". Оказывается рядом с тополями они облюбовали старые липы. К сожалению, бабочки не спускались вниз, и пришлось их кормление на цветах липы доставать телевичком - метров с 20-ти. Сам факт весьма любопытен для наших северных бабочек, и вот я решил эту картинку предложить для публикации.

Most of all - it is! Quite often L. populi in 2012. I met on the dry (artificial) between the primer dd. Chernev and Tomasheva Orel settlement going on Indigenous south bank of the river. Road tight enough frames aspen. Poplar lentochniki examined for some reason the road sections with protruding gravel!)

In the picture I think the female (could be wrong). On personal observations from L. populi just females rarely leave the trees. While males are usually at the bottom and can be taken directly from the moist soil of forest roads. Can you not?
