Distribution

  • Перелетная саранча обитает на юге Украины, в Предкавказье и на Нижней Волге, в Казахстане и Средней Азии, на юге Западной Сибири. Отдельные очаги размножения ее известны на севере Украины, на Средней Волге и южнее Оки. Перелетная саранча широко распространена до Южной Африки, Австралии и Новой Зеландии. [328].

  • Стаи взрослой саранчи пролетают в день до 120 км, пожирая все на своем пути, особенно сильно повреждают посевы культурных злаков. [328].

General info about Larva

  • Если личинок много, то они сбиваются в стаи, называемые кулигами. Эти кулиги начинают двигаться в поисках пищи; поскольку у личинок еще не развиты крылья, то такие кулиги называют пешей саранчой. Скорость движения пешей саранчи от 6 до 12 м в минуту. Если на пути попадается водная преграда, личинки через нее переправляются вплавь. Через 35—40 дней после выхода из яйца личинки превращаются в крылатую саранчу. [328].

  • На заболоченных участках, густо заросших тростником, самки во второй половине лета откладывают в землю яйца в виде так называемых кубышек. [328].
