Description. Length of front wing 14-17 mm. The male on top of the wings of blue, shiny, with fine dark boundary line (0.5 mm); a female - brown. Apex front wings pointed. Underneath the wings of the male light gray in the back wing of the blue pretornal spraying is not developed; a female - light brown. Marginal drawing underside is very weak.On the rear fenders along the veins M3 bright clear a narrow white bar (from ssp. Rossicus (Dantchenko et Lukhtanov, 1993) is absent).
The length of the valve is 2.2-2.5 mm.
Haploid - 24-26 chromosomes.
Biology. Steppe grasslands, rocky steppes. Years of adults: end of June to August in one generation. Forage plants caterpillars: Hedisarum spp. Caterpillar overwinters.
Subspecies. Southern Urals: P. damocles damocles (Herrich-Schäffer, 1844); River basin. Volga: P.damocles rossicus (Dantchenko et Lukhtanov, 1993).
Related and similar species. P. damone: apex rounded front wings, blue pretornal pollination in the underside of the rear wings clear; P. ciscaucasicus: upper wings male blue-violet; P. damon: top male wing teal; P. ripartii: top male brown wings.
