Description. Length of front wing 13-17 mm. The male on top of the wings purple-blue on the hind wings marginal black spots; a female - brown with orange marginal wells. The underside of the wings of gray. Figure bottom wings contrast.Marginal black spots bottom rear wings often with bright blue scales.
The length of the valve is 1.6-2.0 mm.
Biology. Meso-xerophytic and steppe grasslands. In the mountains on the territory described up to 2000 m. Years of adults: May-August 1 generation, depending on the height of the dwelling. Forage plants caterpillars: Astragalus spp. Caterpillar overwinters. Contact with ants Lasius alienus, Formica pratensis.Subspecies. In the Central Caucasus: P. sephirus sephirus (Frivaldszky, 1835); in the North-West Caucasus: P. sephirus kubanensis (Shchurov, 1999) with a bright pattern underside of the wings.
Related and similar species. Species of the genus Plebeius (except subgenus Plebejides): on the inside of the valve is not an outgrowth of the ridge; P. pylaon: marginal black spots bottom of the rear wings are always blue without scales, lower wing light; P.zephyrinus: summit ridge of the valve has a more complex form.
