Twice a year, in spring and autumn, Moscow hosts the Entoterra entomological trade fair, where you can see and/or purchase a wide variety of dried insects, live arthropods, entomological equipment and accessories, thematic crafts, souvenirs, and entomological literature. It’s also a great opportunity to meet (or reconnect with) colleagues and interesting people.
The next (twenty-second) fair will be held from March 22 to 23, 2025, at the Studio Hall located at 49c3 Leninsky Prospekt, Moscow (entrance from Bardina Street). Opening hours: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Entrance fee: 300 rubles, free for children under 7. The visitors can buy tickets on-site, but the exhibitors should apply in advance (before February 1, 2025).
Traditionally, the fair lasts for two days: Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday is the busiest day, with the highest number of participants and visitors, as well as the largest selection of dry specimen available for sale. If you are looking to choose from a wide range of offers or find something rare — Saturday is for you. If your goal is to meet and chat with many colleagues and comrades in misfortune — Saturday is for you. If you enjoy a high-energy atmosphere and find calmness boring — Saturday is for you.
Sunday offers a calmer atmosphere, with fewer crowds in the aisles and less fuss around the desks. In addition, some sellers are more willing to offer discounts as the fair comes to a close. If you want to buy something at a lower price, even if the selection is smaller — Sunday is for you. If you prefer more thoughtful communication in a calmer atmosphere — Sunday is for you.
For the best of both worlds, spend the whole weekend at the fair! Plus, sellers that live in Moscow or in the Moscow region, can deliver any items you order on Saturday, straight to you on Sunday.
If you’re attending with your family, while you are busy bargaining about the entomological boxes, stocking up on pins, or chatting with entomologists from far and away, your husband can purchase a moth brooch, a beetle-themed purse, or another quirky gift. Meanwhile, your kids can chase butterflies with a net or pet a domesticated praying mantis. When your loved ones are get tired of these activities too, feel free to send them to the nearby Tennis Cup coffee shop — where they can watch tennis broadcasts and enjoy delicious coffee and cookies.
For visitors driving to the fair, there is a free city parking lot on Bardina street. The exhibitors can also use paid parking on the premises. Please note: while there are usually plenty of space on Bardina street in the morning, the lots may fill up by lunchtime.
For those who need more then mobile internet, free Wi-Fi is available at the exhibition. Just connect!
This will be not the first, or second, but the twenty-second Entoterra fair. You can watch, read, and listen to impressions from previous exhibitions at the links below.

For those who enjoy a healthy lifestyle and appreciate Moscow architecture, a leisurely walk from Leninsky Prospekt or Akademicheskaya metro stations, or from the MCC (Moscow Central Circle) Ploschad Gagarina station, will take about 20 minutes. The weather in Moscow in March is pleasant as usual, so I would recommend walking as the main option.
If the weather is not so good, or you have heavy items to carry and you aren’t driving, comfortable trams #14 and #39 running from Leninsky Prospekt, are ready to warm you up and take you almost directly to the fair. There are no trams from Akademicheskaya station, but there is a bus #196 that is almost as good as trams.
For those who is riding a horse (or other vehicle), there’s parking available on Bardina street, just a short walk from the fair entrance.
A route map is provided below. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to write them in the form below the map:
There is no other regular entomological event in Russia comparable to the Moscow insect trade fair. So whether you like it or not, attendance is a must.
