Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species
- Body length is 10-20 mm. Plagionotus detritus appears in nature a month later than @ @ Plagionotus arcuatus, usually starting in mid-June. In deciduous, especially oak stands, it occurs until the end of July. These types usually appear together. However, the proportion of Plagionotus detritus represents only one-fourth of the individuals of Plagionotus arcuatus in the biotope. [61].
General info about Imago
- A beetle with a relatively rounded pronotum. The head is black, the red-yellow antennae are thick, the male is longer than the female. Pronotum black, transverse, covered with dark hairs, at the base and at the end often has a wide band covered with yellow hairs. Elytra slightly convex, at the end with a cutout, have an external pointed or tooth-shaped elongated end. The front half is dominated by dark coloration, while the back half is yellow. The base and lateral edges of the elytra are brown. The first stripe behind the base of the elytra is transverse, short, covered with whitish or light yellow hairs; the second stripe, located in front of the middle, is shortened at both ends; the third and fourth-behind the middle, obliquely located and usually connected so that they cover the entire back part of the elytra with yellow hairs. The legs are red and yellow. The underside is covered with delicate whitish hairs. Coloring and drawing are very variable. [61].
