Distribution
- Regions of the Russian Federation: the Lower Amur, Primorye, Sakhalin, Mid-Amur. [3].
- Japan (including the Ryukyu Islands), Korea, China ( including Taiwan), Southeast Asia (including Java, Kalimantan), India.- Coniferous-deciduous and broad-leaved forests. [204].
Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species
- The forewings are light brown, with dark brown sparse, and in the subcranial field more dense pollination. The inner and outer bandages are close to the rear edge of the wings, almost straight. The sub-edge line is convex inwards. The kidney-shaped spot is pronounced, the round spot is in the form of a dot. The hindwings are black with a red border. On the black field, they have a blue sash in the form of a question mark. The back edge of the wings has long, thick hairs. [204].
General info about Imago
- Thyas Hbn. Large butterflies. Mustache is covered with sparse hairs. The tentacles are raised up. The proboscis is normally developed. Crown with a hairy crest. The middle and hind legs are covered with spines, the hind legs are densely covered with hairs. At the posterior edge of the hindwings there is an odorous organ ( a tuft of long hairs). There are 19 species in the genus (Oriental, Ethiopian, and Australian regions), and 2 species in the Palearctic. In the Russian Far East 1 view. [204].

Larva food plants / other food objects
- Caterpillars on Betula davurica, Juglans mandschurica, Quercus glandulifera, Pterocarya. In Japan, citrus fruits are harmed. [204].
