Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • Длина переднего крыла может составлять от 2,8 до 3,5 см. Самцы Macrothylacia rubi темно-коричневые, меньше самок по размеру, но с роскошными гребневидными усами. Самки, соответственно, крупнее, с толстым брюшком и узкими усиками. На передних крыльях и самцов, и самок 2 поперечных полоски, при этом у обоих полов отсутствуют белые срединные пятна на передних крыльях, что отличает бабочек малинного коконопряда от многих других коконопрядов (шелкопрядов).
