Distribution

  • Циркумполярный вид. Север европейской части России, Сибирь до Чукотки и о-ва Врангеля, Алтай, Восточный Саян, Дальний Восток на юг до Приморского края. Север Северной Америки, Швеция, Норвегия, Финляндия. Монголия.
    Обитает в разнообразных текучих водоемах, на севере и в горах встречается и в озерах. [214].

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • Относительно крупный вид с коренастым телом; длина тела самца 5-7, самки 6-10 мм, длина переднего крыла самца 5,5-8, самки 6,5-9 мм. Длина тела и крыльев изменчива, часто самцы и самки имеют несколько укороченные крылья. Степень укорочения крыльев бывает различной. В большинстве северных популяций преобладают особи с укороченными крыльями, в Саянах и на Алтае - длиннокрылые. Окраска тела от темно-коричневой до черной. [214].
