Distribution

Обитает в Южной и Центральной Европе, известен также из Северной Африки и Передней Азии. [332].

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

Длина брюшка 5,4—6,4 см, заднего крыла — 4,1—4,6 см. Характерен расширенный конец брюшка, которое покрыто яркими желтыми кольцами. [332].

Imago lifespan

C июля по сентябрь. [332].

General info about Larva

Личинки обитают в проточных водах, где зарываются в поверхностный слой ила, реже их можно найти в стоячих водоемах с песчаным и галечниковым грунтом. [332].

Egg

Самка откладывает яйца на лету в грунт на небольшую глубину; хотя у нее есть яйцеклад, но он непригоден для откладки яиц в растения. [332].
