Are there any beetles that don't buzz in flight? If so, what types?

The ones we don't hear for some reason. Buzzing is a side effect of the insect working its wings at a certain frequency to stay in the air. As a result, air waves run away from the wings at the same frequency - that's what we hear. But if the frequency is too high, you will get ultrasound, and if the frequency is too low - infrasound, neither one nor the other person will hear. Moral: we need to look for literature on the frequency of wing flaps in beetles. Such studies were-for example, Soltavalta.

Very many, for examplesmile.gif:

Only a dead bug doesn't buzz wink.gif
The question was - "... in flight"
I wonder what would cause such a question-catching beetles on the sound of buzzing?

It all depends on the person's hearing, one can hear, the other can't.

well, about ultrasound, this is probably too much - no one flaps their wings with a frequency greater than somewhere 15-20 kilohertz wink.gif

The beetles I know don't wave at that frequency, but grasshoppers do. Crickets are a little faster-you can already hear them. (data from my own experiment on pryoptera).

20 thousand strokes per second?! if I'm not mistaken, one of the mosquitoes has a record of 1000 strokes.

Oh, I'm sorry - I don't need to get into the conversation in a sleep-deprived statefrown.gif, of course, I meant infrasound and Hertz smile.gif

Ladybugs, in my opinion, fly noiselessly...
