Friends good afternoon, I came across an article about vampire butterflies that live in the tropics, but when studying the materials, it turns out that this is a relative of our Siberian Scoop. The question arose: are they also blood-sucking?

Don't believe this nonsense: butterflies almost all drink nectar, not blood smile.gif
The SCOOPS family for your reference.
It is necessary to be afraid of mosquitoes, horseflies, midges, etc.
P.S. Went to the link. Rejoice: none of the species shown in the photo drinks blood wink.gifAnd in general there are butterflies from different families......

But not in Siberia, and this is an exception. Who only did not drink blood from me (even cicadas tried), but not butterflies smile.gif

So Vasily started referring to pedivikia...
Cicadas, by the way, yes, are evil creatures.

Don't mislead the questioner. Scoops of the genus Calyptra can drink blood. As a rule, warm-blooded animals. If you offer them your hand and ask them very much, they will drink yours as well. But there are only three species in Russia, two of which are only in the Far East, and only C. thalictri is found in Siberia and Europe. parts of the Russian Federation. All three species were present during light fishing, and I wasn't attacked like mosquitoes or midges. If they sat on their clothes, they sat quietly and did not look for exposed areas of the body.
