Apatura ilia: The second generation in the Urals?

Community and ForumInsects biology and faunisticsApatura ilia: The second generation in the Urals?

On September 16, I observed perelivnitsa near the village of Bulzi (North of the Chelyabinsk region). According to the literature, there are second-generation butterflies in the south, but we are far from the south. However, the summer this year was abnormally hot. If I had a net with me, I would have caught it, but it circled around me for about three minutes, sat down a couple of times, but I couldn't catch it with my hands. The size was small, about a centimeter smaller than usual.
The most interesting thing is that since 1988, I only discovered them last year in our country, the extreme eastern border of their range.
I think this is an interesting find!

Yes, it is because of the hot summer in the Urals. But in the Leningrad region, due to the disgustingly cold summer, the second generation observed in recent years is completely absent.
