About zorka-yes, it is not clear, but hawkmoth sometimes give 2 optional classes (in particular, in Ts. In Russia-pine, eye-shaped, poplar, linden, m. vinny, and aspen were also noted).

Yes, it must be a nice find.

In the south of Ukraine, I know for sure that the poplar hawk moth gives 2 generations (I saw it in September 2010).

The fact is that the summer was cold in the Urals. In July it was often 10 degrees at night and 12 in the afternoon!
This makes this discovery even more incomprehensible.

this explains everything. in the cold summer, the butterflies did not come out in their usual terms, now they warmed up and flew out.

I doubt...Usually in a cold year, the delay is for a week, maximum two.
The normal period of summer for us is aspen from the beginning of June to the beginning of July. If we add a delay of a couple of weeks, we get the end of July, but not the end of August. This is exactly the second generation!
