Here I wanted to consult you...

At first, I decided to go along the sea in the direction of Sukhumi.. Maybe Batumi..

Then I thought that it would be cool to visit the Elbrus region...

And I want to go to Dagestan.... but there - hardly.

Please respond, gentlemen.. I'm at a crossroads.. can your advice help me?
Who collected interesting things where, and who liked them where?.. I want a fatter place, and so that I don't have to go far from the highway (well, 5 kilometers, up to 8). We'll stop by.

We are primarily interested in zlatki, barbel and carabus. And maybe even something alive, big and beautiful..

If it is 5-8 km away, then it is most likely the coast. There are interesting places from the north of the ridge, but it's not so easy to drop off there, and the border zone is nearby. And the Elbrus region, in my opinion, is too crowded.

15.05.2008 15:26, Frantic

In my opinion, the most crowded place is just the coast. Everyone is busy vacationing. In the mountains the people are distributed more locallysmile.gif

That's right, but five or six kilometers into the mountains - and almost no one is there. And from Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, and so on. to get to nice interesting places (mountain areas), you would have to drive a little bit, and even not get into the reserve, but a pass to the border zone...

Well, this is all purely hypothetical..

I wonder where you can collect well in a short period of time...
After all, people are everywhere, but they end up outside the city)

15.05.2008 16:47, Tomas.Adzkee

And where is the border zone there? You mean Georgian?

15.05.2008 16:50, Tomas.Adzkee

Judging by the definition of the European part, zlatki generally love the Ciscaucasia..

15.05.2008 16:54, Frantic

High in the mountains (at least at the level of 2 thousand meters) is not particularly muchsmile.gif, although hotel types climb there - it all depends on the specific region. As for Karachay-Cherkessia, we fished there, for example, last year - in Arkhyz. A minimum of people opposite the coast under construction. But on the coast all sorts of Kapnodis and Dicerks are piled up, yessmile.gif

15.05.2008 17:14, Guest

Vooo
Arkhyz I also keep in mind... How's it going?"

Ah, actually!
I'm going from 20.05 to 5.06
approximately.

15.05.2008 17:17, Tomas.Adzkee

^^ this is me

And I don't want to go high up in the mountains.. Except for some kosher snacks.. if that's where they want to live....

And with dicerks, it's a matter of luck.. They fly on the Dniester, but I haven't taken any yet.. and my friends, the fishermen, collect dozens.

Friends, your feedback on fishing locations and results will help me a lot.

After all, the Caucasus is ... him.... Such.... It's big after all...)

15.05.2008 23:18, Frantic

Arkhyz is a good place. But, rather, for fans of Karabida. With zlatkami (at least. in July) it was completely rotten *(although we examined dozens of fallen deciduous trees. Caught a banal Chrysobothris and some Agrillussmile.gif

Not far from Arkhyz in the Uchkulan area, right at the border post from zlatok, I came across C. mariana, L. mirifica, some trifle.

Thank you.. You can also take a peek.

Do you have any data on Ciscaucasia?

16.05.2008 12:04, Buzman

The same thing. In the area of Arkhyz, in the border zone in particular (there was a permit), only Agrillus came across from the goldsmiths. At the end of August.

It's stupid to go to the Caucasus for Mariana's sakesmile.gif) Apparently, the zlatochny places lie much to the south and east, and west (Adygea and the coast).

16.05.2008 13:42, Frantic

With barbels, by the way, in Arkhyz, too, not a fountainfrown.gif Every little thing lepturina and kortoderina climbs, and something beautiful, for the soul and eyes, almost no (except that Paraclitus and clitus). I don't know what can be really pleasant there..

For dicerks, go to Abkhazia. There are a lot of chlorostigmas there.
The forests in the area of B. Laba are quite interesting in all respects.

??? what exactly about forests?
Dombay, like Dombay. The nature reserve is only solid around. And the huntsmen go quite often (I constantly crossed paths with them). And there are really interesting places, especially in the city.Gonachhir and Alibek.

17.05.2008 11:13, Nikolaj Pichugin

Good location on the Krasnaya Polyana slopes. There you can remove 6-8 species from traps at once, and there are enough other insects! The only negative - there is now "construction of the century"

17.05.2008 15:20, Tomas.Adzkee

The deadline has been reduced to 10 days, 3-4 of which will be spent on the road...
So, you will be able to visit a very small area....

I'm leaning towards the Adygea-Sochi option.

There is still a problem, the foreign passport is not ready... And in Abkhazia, as I understand it, no one will let a Ukrainian in without a foreign passport? And, accordingly, to Adjara?

Who knows, please tell me!

Nikolai Pichugin, what kind of Krasnaya Polyana do you have in mind? Which one is on Mzymta, near Sochi?

Why are these places so curious? The views are beautiful mountain, or there are good beetles there? If so, which ones? We will be on Dombay on June 24 of this year..

everything is there. I have Ropalopus lederi from there. Is a bug good enough for you? There are Agapanthia subchalybaea, pogonocherus, Carabus edithae, and more.

KDG why make fun of me like that? Ropalopus lederi not every pro caught in his life,
the beetle is not just wonderful, but excellent smile.gif

I'm not kidding you. I just had to see a huge series of very good beetles not even from the "pros". I don't know what's going on with him...

21.05.2008 11:42, Frantic

KDG, how to catch Ropalopus lederi? What biotopes does he like? Edith's Carabus isn't a trick.. There are bettersmile.gifCarbuses there

21.05.2008 13:51, Serg Svetlov

I agree, it happens lucky, but basically people who are not experienced in collecting bring only banals!!! Of course, the time spent during the trip is very important, the longer you stay at the point, the more likely you are to catch something interesting! Sometimes you have to spend several seasons traveling to one point (and always everything is different), there are a lot of examples

mid-mountain forest with maples. we need shrinking and blocked trees (but not fallen trees). runs on trunks. nothing is known about visiting flowers or collecting baits. you can search on dry roads.

About the Ukrainian I do not know, and about the Russian passport is not needed, just a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation.

- I would like to invite someone to visit us for a fishing trip to the Caucasian Mineral Waters!
"I'm sitting here in an entomological vacuum, after my friend hanged himself and the rest of us got fucked up over the division of markets for entomological souvenirs that I stopped doing for family reasons."
- I guarantee free accommodation in a barn adapted for living, in which I myself live. Also participate as a guide , since I know all the paths here on our 17 laccoliths-magmatites + Borgustan and Jinalsky ridges (altitude from 800 to 1400 m). above sea level). Well, a bed in the hotel can be rented (if you want) for 250r. I'll show you a photo collection of our recorded species. In short, come if you want and can, before the summer is over. I'll help you in any way I can.
Sincerely, Andreas Andriadis

- I can recommend one interesting place...
First you need to get a map of the High-altitude Kabardino-Balkar Nature Reserve.
Get to Nalchik.
Drive to the bus station that provides regular routes within the republic.
Drive to the village of Verkhnyaya Balkaria.
You may or may not need to stop in the middle of the road to the village at the management of the reserve located in the former village of Sovetskoye. There, if you are lucky enough to catch the administration at the workplace, you will be bred like suckers for money, charging a certain amount for being on the territory of the reserve. This receipt can help you when communicating with the cops who meet you at the final bus stop (in Upper Balkaria). The most interesting thing is that the river valleys that cut through the reserve are not included in the reserve!!! - and given to the economic use of the population!!! So, if you don't plan to go down the river, and not climb the almost vertical slopes there, then this fake permit is a receipt for nothing! Would-be foresters poaching wildly there will not be interested in your documents at all.
From the village it is necessary to follow not the Cherek Balkarsky, but the river "RCYVASHKI" first on the left bank to the bridge, and then on the right to the "LOVERS ' GORGE". This place is a dead end (a sheer cliff leading to the water does not allow further access) . Cattle don't go in there. It is located an hour's walk from the village. There is a gorgeous untouched herbage!!! You can catch Apollons with your hands in the morning!!! There is a cave where you can sit out the bad weather. Discarded trunks of the river on the shore, - for the fire is full! The nights at the beginning of August are cold , but you can stand it without a sleeping bag, or by the fire, or under a burnt vodka.
The people in the village are hospitable. Ayran is given for free. A wonderful cheese is 3 times cheaper than in Pyatigorsk. The women are tall, statuesque, and fair. You can spend the night in the village for free with almost anyone (but it's better to thank them with evening stories under mutton soup with garlic and some souvenirs, but not with money!). We spent the night with Timur, who lives near the top shop near the last stop. He has 2 institutes, graduated for rams, and 15 years of work as a trucker throughout Russia. My sister teaches the law of God at madrasa, and my younger brother is a Wahhabi. But they honor the law of Caucasian hospitality more than Allah and their parents.
- Or you can go around the Lovers ' Gorge on the right along the ridge and go down to the river Rtsyvashki, along which you can reach the glaciers through which you can get to North Ossetia. The river valley in Prinzpah is beaten out by cattle... - But in the belt of the Caucasian rhododendron, growing mixed with juniper, the lepidopteran Eldorado begins!!! (This time zone starts one hour after the last trees.) After half an hour, the waterfall. After the waterfall, Alpine mixed grasses begin!. Mnemosyne is still flying there on August 1!!!
- (And the common Apollo ends already, where the broad-leaved forest ends interspersed with scree). Poto in half an hour the tundra begins with dwarf willow and crazy beauty multicolored buttercups and bluebells!!!
Tourists come across rarely, and for some reason only foreign ones. During the day, you can walk to the second koshara, where you can spend the night, after passing the first, where you can have lunch and relax for an hour. They are not inhabited. There are tribaxes under the rocks. Local shepherds steal only money from abandoned items; - because the rest of the "wicked" are disdained. In Verkhnyaya Koshara live very trusting snow voles, which take cookies directly from their hands. (Please do not harm them).
- If you want to clarify anything, just ask.
