Nikolay Suatbaev died

Community and ForumWe mourn the departed. ObituariesNikolay Suatbaev died

Yakovlev, 17.07.2012 12:36

Now I have received information that an amateur entomologist from Ust-Kamenogorsk, Nikolai Suatbaev, has died. The author of the website dedicated to butterflies of the East of Kazakhstan, is a medic by profession. I don't know the details. http://eastflies.500mb.net/
I met him in May - I received from him the only letter describing this person. I quote
"Thank you for your interest. It's funny that an openly amateur site is almost exclusively interested in professionals )))
Yes, the biodiversity in Altai is amazing! Zoogeographically poorer, but well-studied regions (Moscow region, Prodrozhye, Crimea, etc.) usually have about 100 species. Yes, I'm an amateur photographer, I've been interested in butterflies for the last two years. I do not collect butterflies, in general, I am a principled opponent of killing them, although I am familiar with all the arguments of entomologists in favor of collecting))) Professionally in a completely different field. I got an excellent telemacrooptic system this year (the previous photos were taken completely unsuited to this), but I'm afraid circumstances will not allow me to go anywhere... Good luck! Sincerely, Nikolay. "
I express my condolences to my relatives.

We didn't know each other, not even virtually. But what a pity when such interesting people leave prematurely! My condolences, may he rest in peace!

How short life is!
We have only recently started corresponding with Nikolai...
In Kazakhstan, there are even a few sympathizers for entomology, but they are also leaving.
We sincerely grieve...

How many such modest lovers of nature, butterflies, beetles, plants...
It is a pity that such people leave prematurely...
Bright memory to Nicholas!!!
What will happen to this site now?

Too bad! a good man left!
We corresponded with Nikolai for more than a year. I often advised him on the website "butterflies of East Kazakhstan" (a good project was emerging). The man was enthusiastic and inquisitive.
We grieve.
