Looking for a companion / travel companion

Community and ForumTravel and expeditionsLooking for a companion / travel companion

Dear like-minded people! wink.gif
I am looking for a companion / traveling companion (maybe two, preferably a bug person!), for a period of 3-5 weeks. Approximate geography: Turkey, Georgia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan. Other options are possible. shuffle.gif
My area of interest is mostly Agrodiaetus (Lycaenidae), Colias (Pieridae).
I consider good old Iran as one of the options. The country is familiar, I've been there 4 times, there are certain developments and routes. There is no special reference to the time – the beginning. May-beginning august. I plan to travel sometimes by hitchhiking, but more often by bus. Accommodation is planned in a tent, occasionally in hostels. In addition to entomology (it is supposed to catch light from a battery), the second goal is photographing nature (mountains, plants, insects), people, villages and sights unknown to a wide range of people. According to the photo – a normal level, as for an amateur. smile.gif The trip is focused more on visiting natural and landscape places. In Iran, for example, in addition to small six-legged animals, there are plenty of large animals: fennec, bezoar goats, mountain sheep, wolves, a huge number of porcupines, eared hedgehogs and wild boars!!! Wonderful nature: amazing waterfalls and caves, including the largest cave in the world. So there is a lot to see, photograph, and fish in Iran. smile.gif
PS I take the choice of a companion seriously. A person is also needed for future trips, so that he does not get carried away with mass collections of everything that moves, otherwise conflicts may arise on this basis. I don't do mass collection myself.

In Iran, for example, in addition to small six-legged animals, there are plenty of large animals: feneks <...>.

Before your message, I naively believed that feneks ("large animals") live in Africa (and in lab. NSU Faculty of Natural Sciences). M. B., did you mean "dates"? Or is it me- "stupid"?
In addition to entomology <...>, the second goal is photographing nature <...>, people, villages and sights unknown to a wide range of people.

Here, about these "unknown for a wide range of attractions", I would like to hear in more detail. Are these military installations?
B-k who received a visa to Iran will not receive a visa to the United States (if I am not "stupid" again). There is a choice.

thank you for correcting me about the foxes. My companion ran around photographing them.
"sights unknown to a wide circle" - fortresses (ancient), waterfalls, mountain lakes, etc., which are not described in books about tour. routes. When I was in Lorestan, the locals asked me how I knew about the waterfall and the lake. They checked my LP, and there was really nothing said.
People - portrait photography. Kishlaki - everyday
military.are objects a joke?? Maybe you are interested in them, but you have such thoughts? If you are interested in them, look for other fellow travelers, I have other interests.
You can't get a visa to the United States after that, but you can easily get a visa to Europe.

I wonder who exactly you wrote to? confused.gif
It seems to me that it is necessary to "warm your belly" in specially designated places, for example, on beaches ...as a rule. wink.gif

judging by some revealed fees, it is not clear WHAT some do in the collections.

And I wrote, meaning myself-that spending a lot of money and taking risks without collecting as an entomologist should, while at the same time thinking about colleagues and replenishing museum collections is a waste of everything.

This is to this - "We need a person for future trips, so as not to get carried away with mass collections of everything..."

Do I understand you correctly?"- You collect for museums abroad officially, which means you have permission to export and import material from the Ministry of Ecology and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? or do you treat not entomologists, but storonikam total destruction of everything, collecting and exporting all cubic meters? smile.gif
I wrote about a certain category of people who collect everything that moves and grows - this is a kind of mental illness. I (I hope like you), belong to the absolute majority-collecting with meaning. smile.gif

Some people don't catch anything at all, and, just imagine, they are even entomologists. Some people are interested not in corpses, but in living insects. And then there are some entomologists who (oh horror!) It's not just insects that are interesting. But we won't let these perverts go on the expedition, no, no.

Let me disagree! Sometimes it's out of season. So on a personal example of 2011-Arkhyz-the trip was planned for June-July, but as a result, it did not work out in this period. Time: late August-September. The result was worse than it could have been.

To cheer everyone up an anecdote about "out of season": Stirlitz went to the forest for mushrooms went all day and found nothing. "Out of season!" - thought Stirlitz and sat down in a snowdrift. smile.gif

Viatoru000: It may make sense for you to look for fellow travelers, somewhere else, probably there will be those who want to take pictures of mountain goats in Iran, while not collecting insects.

Friends, a person invites you to travel and expresses their wishes to a fellow traveler. Does it make sense to write that you are not going because you do not agree with these wishes?
