Dear forumchane! You are experts, and I am writing to you! Yesterday at my home I found a certain "bug", I don't know who it is and whether it's worth worrying about. In the apartment there is a small child who pulls everything from the floor into his mouth, and then unexpected guests (I met three people in a day). city of Kazan, panel house, first floor.
Help, pzhta, find out who it is and whether it is worth worrying about!!!!!
Photo attached....
Thank you in advance!

The photo, of course, is not painfully clear, but this is a rice barn elephant beetle (since it seems to me that reddish spots can be guessed on the elytra, most likely-Sitophilus oryzae, if pure black-Sitophilus granarius: but for you the difference is not great, these are close species). The source of their reproduction is stocks of cereals in the kitchen (you or your neighbors). It is safe for a child (and a person in general), except for the harm caused by damage to food supplies. It's easy to get rid of: if you find infected cereals (most often rice), throw them away along with the beetles. And you will be happy. smile.gif
