I will start with myself: I am looking for a travel companion on a trip 24.04-2.05 to the Tuapse region, no matter what group of insects you are interested in, I will be glad to see everyone.
Briefly about me: I live in Moscow, 27 years old, this will be my second field season, if I don't find anyone, I will go alone, but I would still like to find a company, as I think it will be boring to be alone. The approximate travel budget is 30000r per person, but I think it will be easy to reduce the amount.
If anyone is interested-write to the post office eidalon@yandex.ru I will consider any options and suggestions.

what are you going to catch? is there any transport available on site? maybe I'll break off with you wink.gifand then I'll be picked up on the way to Abkhazia shuffle.gif

I plan to spend a couple of weeks (end of May-beginning of June) in Ossetiatongue.gif, I liked Severnaya, but I want to go to an oak grove near Tskhinval, see how ibericus swarm wink.gifI invite one entomoluha (not a collector=merchant) with me.
Requirements in descending order of importance:
- heterosexual or a girl (you will have to sleep next to or together, and I am against same-sex love. I won't bother the girl, because I have my own house and it's better to be patient than to get software later ... and drag her things back),
- tolerance to tobacco smoke (I smoke a lot at any altitude),
- performance+experience in mountain conditions (go, dig, catch, take pictures, DO NOT WHINE!!!! one day I will wait on the trail, but the second day I will go alone-stay at home and cook borscht),
- a reliable report on the work done (we are not going to the beach, but to work),
- a link to the university.
Housing and light are available there at almost all points=we don't need a tent and a "gene".
We are waiting there with three pies beer.gifbeautiful mountains, hospitable mountaineers and a lot of unknown insects wink.gif

I go there for two reasons
: 1) To catch butterflies
2) To" Hide " from seasonal allergies
, my plans were to stay somewhere in Tuapse, use electric trains and/or buses to get around. That is, from the morning I got out to the point, wandered around, fished, returned, the next day to another place. But I am ready to consider my options.
As for orientation - I have a girl at home, so the requirements are the same
Smoke tolerance-I smoke myself
Working capacity + experience in mountain conditions - here is an ambush, I have no experience in the mountains, in general, for the first time I go further MO for butterflies, as I said my second season, about the criterion of working capacity I would like more, what are the requirements?
Report-I agree
Binding to the University - I do not have, I work, and from 24 to 3 I will be on a well-deserved vacation

I understand correctly that you have never fished there? didn't count a couple of pigeons and "cabbage rolls" in early childhood?

Do you understand correctly)

21.02.2015 20:18, AGG

and why such a choice? Tuapse? it is cheaper to stop closer to the mountains=butterflies in a room/shed in the village and catch alancastrium right in the yardshuffle.gif, especially since at this time there is no one there at all except for them, leptidis and kallophrys. it's a little early for you to go there for a mace-the current of alankastria, if you find a suitable raspadok with kormrvukha wink.gif

Tuapse - since it is located approximately in the center of our part of the World Cup coast + access to transport (trains, buses), this will allow you to visit different places, the vicinity of Sochi, Goryachy Klyuch, intermediate stations between them
About staying in a village-tell me the options where exactly you can stay ?
so early - because one of the goals is to "hide" from seasonal allergies, I know that it's early, but maybe at least something will be able to understand

and when does spring start in the Far East? strangling a klanis, bramea, or armtemida with your own hands is cool, but a huge cluster of spring and autumn species remains outside the"hooch". shuffle.gif
spring is probably already postponed, because tickets should have been bought last October, but maybe at least there is a chance for autumn?

Looking for a companion to hike Mount Ko. http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?showtopic=439668. I've been going there for a long time, and every time they don't let cyclones and rain fall. There should be a bucket this year! Condition for a fellow traveler: cheerful disposition, strong legs. Go 25 km with a heavy backpack through the windbreak forest, the same amount back with a relatively light one, and then climb... Tour duration: from July 15-17. From there I plan to go to Primorye, Anisimovka. You can also do it together. Write to me in PM.

I have plans for the coming season to continue monitoring my favorite ones places in the Vladimir region. In particular, the "fix idea": to lure Tragosoma depsarium to the light (according to "all parameters", this beetle simply has to be in the local biotopes)smile.gif, and there should be many more interesting people there. In short: there are a lot of plans and they relate to the same area. Good luck again to everyone in the upcoming season beer.gif

28.02.2015 14:01, Mantispid

My plans are as follows:
Early May-Mangyshlak
Mid May-August-Saratov region

01.03.2015 1:23, Barnaba

I also thought about Mangyshlak, but the distances are long, and everything can turn around-the border, roads, and I am strictly limited in time, and I would like to rest in parallel, and not stop. And there are a lot of interesting things there. So I had to regretfully postpone it until better times.
I plan to travel in the first decade of May avtovoyazh Moscow-Archedinsky sands-Bolshoy Bogdo and Baskunchak-Saray_Batu-sands at Kharabala-sands and floodplain at Dosang-Astrakhan-Kalach_na_donu-Golubinsky sands-Moscow. With variations in the weather and progress. There are three days in Dosang, at least two in Bogdo, if possible, and less in the rest. In general, it still comes out compressed, 3500 km in 10 days, some on unimportant roads.
The last time I was in those parts was ten years ago, but I have never been to Golubinsky Sands, so there are a number of questions for knowledgeable people (beetles and some reptiles are interesting):
1) Where are the most interesting points (loose sands, salt marshes, clay patches, coastal drifts) in the Archedinsky sands? What is the best way to get there-through Viltov, or otherwise? I visited twice, but in the dodgepie era, once they brought me without my participation to a very good place, as I remember, and ten years later I tried to drive myself, but I didn't find anything interesting, and the road ended wink.gif.
2) Is it allowed to go to Bogdo by car in May (1-2maya)? Or better 6-7-8? In 2004, the reserve was already there, however, I went to the pre-summit saddle without any problems, and even spent the night in balochka. But now, they say, there is a barrier, tickets and all that. Tell me if someone was there recently.
3) Where are the most interesting places in Golubinsky Sands? Is there an entrance and exit from Peskovatka on the M6, or only through Kalach?
4) Opposite Kalach, on the right bank of the Don, south of the highway, there is the so-called Krasnaya Gully (48.672, 43.449). Quite a long time ago I was told that there is some amazing entomofauna, steppe mesophilic, reminiscent of Eastern Ukraine, and even with some Caucasian element. How true is this? What kind of vegetation is there? In Google, you can see the forest at the bottom, but it is not clear whether bayrachny has been planted or preserved, and what is on the slopes is unclear.
5) Finally, not exactly at the right address, but I know that there are those who are interested here. Does anyone know any reliable habitat points of the Takyr roundhead (Phrynocephalus helioscopus) from Baskunchak to Dosang? Honestly, I won't withdraw it.
Sorry for the long post.

01.03.2015 9:25, Mantispid

On the way back from Mangyshlak, I would like to stop by Dosang... at least for a couple of days, but how to leave there later is not clear (((

01.03.2015 13:28, Barnaba

But you're not walking to Mangyshlak, are you? If you still walk, then there used to be an electric train Dosang-Astrakhan, there is about 60 km, an hour and a half. And from Astrakhan you can go to Saratov. I don't know if it exists now. I think it's really possible to catch a ride for money, and even to Volgograd. I will leave Dosang by Astrakhan and then on to Kalmykia no later than May 8th, but rather earlier, but due to the weather, it is difficult to lay down, the sequence of points may change.

I'll answer some questions

No, there are no landings. This is a ghostly forest, based on oak, as well as elm, Tatar maple, birch bark, but this is all quite familiar, so I didn't look too closely.
To say that some very specific entomofauna I will not risk, typical for that bank of the Don, although in this place, as it were, the" southern border " passes.
If you have any questions , please contact us in person.

I agree, in any case, there is nothing Caucasian or Eastern Ukrainian about butterflies.

On the right bank of the Don River we have Lethrus apterus, which is not present in the left-bank part, and there is also Dorcadion ciscaucasicum, but I also caught it on the Bear in the left-bank part. It is unlikely that Kalach has something that is not, for example, in the vicinity of Trekhostrovskaya.

Yes, Lethrus apterus and D. ciscaucasicum were mentioned, but also, of interest, Cicindela besseri, C. soluta, Leistus, 4 species of calosomes, Carabus bessarabicus, C. hungaricus, Ptrerostichus ovoides, weevils Euidosomus acuminatus and Stephanocleonus tetragrammus, from plates of Sinodendron cylindricum and Dorcus parallelipipedus (!?), Odonteus armiger, Ceratophyus polyceros, Ochodaeus chrysomeloides, Sisyphus schaefferi boschnakii, and a number of other infrequent species. All this is written down from the words (I usually write down short stories about particularly thick places) A certain Pontic-Caucasian accent is present.

Cicindela besseri? We haven't caught it in half a century. Cicindela soluta is caught in many places in the Volgograd region, except for the Volga region. The same goes for pretties. Catch Bessarabicus in the Trans-Volga region, although there is C. b. concretus, and under the Kalach there is C. b. bessarabicus. Hungarikus on Ergenyam comes across quite often. Elephants also have a lot of places in the region, dorkus is the most banal piece, here is a roguelike - a rarity in our country, yes. Multi-horned dung beetle in the Astrakhan Trans-Volga region is well caught in the light.

As it turned out, the multi-horned dung beetle lives in any sands of the Volgograd region... True, it is not as abundant as in Astrakhan.

Dim, "Multi-horned dung beetle" is Ceratophyus polyceros Pallas, 1771 and it is he who is most likely meant, and not the so-called "Armed Dung man". Odonteus (= Odontaeus) armiger Scopoli, 1772 smile.gif In general, the trouble with these Russian names (((By the
way, apparently it is the same one, your female Ceratophyus is now in my collection wink.gif

Of course, we are talking about Ceratophilus. And Odonteus sometimes falls into catching banks and flies to the DRL light in the area of floodplain and bayrachny forests.

From April 25 to May 4, I will be staying in Phuket for a holiday. And, of course, I plan to get at least something from the local beetle there. Interested in leaf eaters-sagras, barbels, dung beetles and rhinos (and everything else, too). Can someone who has been there advise something-a thread in the style of "what, where and when"? Thank you in advance.

11.03.2015 8:41, Maksim M.

Vasily-you're right-Dima made a mistake-they found a multi-horned dung beetle, apparently they don't come across any more to the north.

I was in Phuket in late February and early March. I didn't see any variety. The scales were flying, but the beetles were a bit tense. From light sources, I collected a standard set of 2-3 species of local Rutelinae (it is almost impossible for me to determine up to a species), Oryctes rhinoceros, and Elateridae (small species and large ones like Lanelater). There were black-bodied animals (3-4 species), including two specimens of Strongylium erythrocephalum found under the bark. Sagr, I didn't find any barbels. A colleague, while vacationing in Phuket in November, went on a two-day excursion to the national park (Khao Sok National Park, Cheow Lan Lake). It was much more fun there: in addition to a variety of scales, Xylotrupes gideon, some Dichodontus (up to the species have not yet been determined-it seems that they are underdeveloped males), Lepidiota sp., the same small Rutelinae and Anomala grandis, Onitis sp.flew to the light. But in general-do not expect anything supernatural - this is a resort area.
