There was no plan to open the topic of plans, but my Polish friend asked... For some reason, I couldn't place an ad for my own expedition, which requires traveling companions. Here it is:

Dear Friends,

I'm Luke, I come from Poland and this year I'm going to visit Indonesia between July and September. I'm doing there medical practice (August, in Java, as a young doctor).
I've been interested in lepidoptera for almost 20 years (photographing, breeding, collecting, studying).
In the meantime I'd like to travel and visit some places abundant in lepidoptera and other insects.

My very short plan is:
- July: Sulawesi + Sumatra
- August: Java (training)
- Sepember: somewhere East from Java (for example Flores, maybe Papua)

Is there anybody who would like to join of has got similar plans? I'm mostly interested in travelling - I'm not going to collect because I will just have a rucksack. I'm a student and I don't have a lot of money for expensive hotels and luxurious food - I'm mostly interested in meeting people, talking with them, helping them, just normal life. I would also like to visit places with butterflies, maybe do moth-trapping, take a lot of pictures (I love photography). That's why I'm asking because I know that people from Russia have got great experience in travelling in that part of the world.

If there is anybody who could help me or would like to join and plan something together - please email me!

on the daily infa is. please tell me the dates for: spini, hebe and gorgon I understand that they fly at different times, but at least for something you can catch the" May". in theory, the spini flies a little earlier, but as always, it all depends on spring=temperature. you are interested in label dates and preferably with a description of the winter-spring environment r-mail@inbox.ru

Based on the experience of the last four years:
- S. spini - very difficult to guess! Caught on May 1 once successfully, but only females that have already laid eggs. Two years on May 1-9 are empty. Last year in Zadonye (30 km south of Ilovlya) - the only male (i.e. just flew), on Ilovlya was empty. Total: the beginning of summer strongly depends on the past winter, the current spring, and the location (it is colder in the gullies and near the river);
- E. festiva (hebe) - as of May 9, all years were available. Twice-in bulk. Even at night temperatures of -4

, they do not fly where spini.
- S. gorgoniades are found - as of May 9: one year-19 pieces, last year - 54 and they were abandoned to catch

In the remaining two years they did not catch in the right place. You need to know the exact location.

PS. If you get to Dosang at the same time, then there are already not very fresh pyri, festiva and villica

I was looking at the reports, so I asked
Dosang, also a good topic, but you need to go there for beetles, tk for butterflies there is sad (for me) although you can look for interesting grandmothers there

You can't tell by spini anyway. We came when there were no leaves on the blackthorn at all and nothing was flying, and we came when everything was green and blooming, but it didn't fly either... And after such a winter, as this year, so in general in the middle of April they can fly away, and they can not fly out at the beginning of May

Tip: if they don't arrive at Ilovla on the first night, then you can cross the Don River to the village of Trekhostrovskaya and fish along the gullies there, since it's much warmer there.
