Where did a live butterfly come from?

Community and ForumInsects breedingWhere did a live butterfly come from?

Good afternoon!

Tell me, please, how it can be: I have an artificial Christmas tree lay for a year on the loggia (outside the window now, by the way, -10), I took it out and washed it from dust under a cold shower in the bathroom, then put it in the room. In the evening, a red butterfly with black eyes fell from the tree. She recovered for a while, and then began to fly around the room! Flew, returned to the Christmas tree (just like a toy) How is this so? I've already thought about mysticism...
What is interesting is that last New Year there was also one such live butterfly, only then the Christmas tree was brought from the garage.
Or maybe the truth is a mystery...

This is not a mystery,
this butterfly winters like this-in the form of a butterflysmile.gif, and it is not afraid of frosts. It can be seen that the Christmas tree will be brought to them by yours, so they are there for the winter and settle down.
And the butterfly according to the description is Inachis io, "day peacock eye".

Very lucky creature: it survived when you washed the tree. Alive? If so, you can try to keep it as a pet. Or you can send it back to the loggia for the winter smile.gif

She hid somewhere. I hope that it didn't burn down on the chandelier (it's not there, like). If I find her alive, I'll try to send her back to the loggia. Just in case, I put a saucer of sugar water under the Christmas tree.

Oh, I woke up, flying! Just tries to ram the chandelier. He turned off the light.
How to feed her?

28.12.2005 19:25, Guest

I tried feeding it with a syringe - it's a difficult task, and besides, the butterfly attacks all the lamps in the house. I lured the lamp from the video camera, it sat on my T-shirt, went out to the loggia and shook off the butterfly in the "house" -a cardboard box (with holes) from under small household appliances, with a paralon. I hope she likes it.

The Christmas tree will not fit in the box - the box is small, but the Christmas tree is large (190 cm), and in general, you need it yourself - " what is the New Year without a Christmas tree!?"smile.gif))

Oh, all would be so with insects communicated smile.gifRespect beer.gif

All this is certainly good, but I have a second butterfly appeared here!
However, this one's wings are frayed at the edges. I sent douzha the same place as the first one, and for one thing I made sure that there were really two of them.

Is it the same (in color) or different?

Take, my friend, an ordinary paralon sponge, soak it in syrup (preferably honey), put a butterfly on it, if you have the courage, carefully stick out its proboscis (very carefully, you can use a pin) and direct it directly into the sponge. I think she'll be smart enough to eat. In the same way, I managed to feed the banal white turnip, which suddenly appeared in the winter.

The same.

Frayed wings do not interfere with their life. It will overwinter and fulfill its vital task - to reproduce! smile.gif
But you can't stop them from beating on the lamps... Either don't turn on the lights (which is problematic in winter), or let them spend the winter. A box in the loggia is a good option.
If you put them in a cage , they will still fight (against the walls of the cage).

I have a similar situation-I recently found eek.gifa cabbage moth pupa in my clothes (costume). I put it under the lamp (is it correct?), it's probably already worth a month...do you think it will hatch?

18.04.2006 21:17, RippeR

Under the lamp in vain, so it will dry up.. It is better to put it in a jar..

Recently, I found a butterfly caterpillar (like a daytime one), but it ran away. So, I think I will have a pleasant surprise soon. smile.gif

Will it hatch without light?

I wish you good luck!

No, she didn't need the light, because they weren't lying in the sun. They need heat, sufficient moisture, a sofa, an armchair, a TV and a tape recorder smile.gif

Don't they need popcorn? lol.gif

they are not priests to offer them pop food smile.gif
