I am very glad that I found your forum. I live in Estonia, in a prefabricated house on the 5th floor. Windows on one side overlook the fields and cottages. In summer, there is a grid on the windows, but insects can crawl through it from the bottom and top if desired. 3 years already in the summer in the apartment constantly detachivayusya beetles. Only recently did I learn their name: bolshoy flour krushchak. I've never seen maggots anywhere, and I've never seen their cocoons either.

Question: How do I get rid of the next invasion? Install the grid on the windows without gaps, more carefully? Or can they still make their way through the ventilation system? It is unlikely that they get divorced in the kvartit or it can still be? In stocks of cereals excluded. Only if it's in furniture. But I repeat, I didn't see any maggots or cocoons. Or do they eat their cocoon?

Maybe there are some preparations for treating windows from the outside and mesh, so that insects do not want to crawl in?

I did not breed them myself, but those who keep lizards and breed crustaceans for food, said that in winter you have to periodically spray the substrate, otherwise it is possible to oppress and die, especially the larvae of the first instar...
I have repeatedly found all the stages of development in village houses with stove heating, in the attics of old houses with pigeons, beetles - in tree hollows (but I did not find larvae), but I have never found them in modern apartments with central heating. heating (except for accidentally caught beetles - like Elena's) And in general, the fauna of synanthropic beetles in constantly heated residential premises (with the center. heating) and non-permanently heated (with a stove) is very different.

Beetles appeared three years ago, and every year their number increases. I started this topic. For 2 years now, these beetles have not appeared in my apartment. Although pigeons in the attic continue to nest. I put grids on the windows. The air vents were not closed. I wish that other uninvited guests stopped appearing.:)

Although humans are such changeable creatures. :))) Maybe the beetles sensed the danger beforehand... I suddenly decided to have small birds-astrilds and even once brought out chicks from my birds. And for good reproduction, they need live food. So I, overcoming at first a terrible disgust, bought zofobas (as I understand it, this is one of the stages of development of khrushchak). :) I kept it in the refrigerator and fed it to my birds. I never learned to take it with my hands, but the negative feelings subsided a little. :) (I didn't plant it myself, I handed the 2 resulting pupae back to the store).
