Can a bed bug lie low for a couple of months?

Community and ForumHow to get rid of insectsCan a bed bug lie low for a couple of months?

Hello everyone

The bottom line is this. In the summer, bedbugs escaped from neighbors through the outer wall of the house. The fact that they were bed beetles is for sure. In the apartment successively penetrated 3 pieces. The first one bit several times and was destroyed. A few weeks later, another one came running, but after a couple of bites, it suffered the same fate. Again for a few weeks - a quiet sleep. In the fall, the third one made his way. Made two bites within a few days and went quiet. He was not caught, but for more than 2 months he did not show himself in any way.
Is there any chance that he's still alive? I'm worried that something has happened to him.
So far, as an explanation for his mysterious disappearance, I consider 3 options: he was quietly crushed at night, was absorbed by a vacuum cleaner, fell into suspended animation and is waiting in the wings. smile.gif

Bedbugs are serious animals!!!!In the summer of 2014, I brought it with a carpet from the laundry. He ate me slowly for 2 months, did not reproduce, the reason is unknown why, only 11-12 bites, was caught alive. In warm rooms, they do not fall into suspended animation, if they stop biting, then there is no such thing, but if someone does not know, very unpleasant sensations after each bite, and if the brood grazes-finally tin....

2 months is quite possible.

And what is the reason for this? With the time of year? The apartment is warm. After how long can you be completely sure that the bug is already dead?

The bug can fall into suspended animation for up to 3-5 years in the absence of food and a favorable temperature. Unfortunately, it is very tenacious and practically does not hatch, just the waves of brood

Of course it can, and the larvae are especially resistant to everything, even to temperature exposure. Then new insects will hatch from them. So it is better to immediately choose a tool that destroys larvae, too.

"Insects hatch from larvae" - some kind of tin can.
