I have a pair of Peruvian stick insects, mated, the female began to grow fat day after day and is now quite fat.I ate well, but today I noticed that she doesn't eat anything and is kind of sluggish, doesn't move around. If you pick it up, it moves its paws weakly and presses its body against the hand.
Is this condition normal?

With the male, everything is in order. They are kept in a large container with coconut soil and feed on lilac leaves.Humidity is constantly maintained.

Are they adults? What color is the female? Does she eat? Is the insectarium well ventilated?

In general, they are nocturnal, during the day they sit motionless in a shelter.

Yes, already an imago. The female is black, with some kind of spot on the back. He doesn't eat at all. Ventilation is good.

If she didn't eat at all, she wouldn't last 4 days. Black is good, they usually turn gray before they die (clearly noticeable in comparison with normal ones). But some kind of spot is bad, let's take a photo of it or something...

My photos don't want to be uploaded at all. By the way, she died about 4 days ago, laying two eggs.

It's strange, for a month now, how well photos are uploaded to the forum storage. Doubly strange is your statement yesterday that, as it has now turned out, a long-dead female does not eat eek.gifanything Sobolennuyu.

Well, I also bought it from an undereducated entomologist. The legs and part of the antennae of the beetles that I bought together with the stick insects are broken off, this very dead female did not have an antenna.

And the male Peruvian about 2 days ago began to hold on badly with his paws, although earlier it was impossible to tear him off... confused.gif

I really want to save him from such a fate.

What kind of beetles? In general, beetles often break off a lot in old age, but this does not prevent them from reproducing until their "last breath". The antennae of stick insects in captivity are often sharpened during molting and partially come off, this does not affect their viability.

What's the point of a male stick insect without a female? They don't live long anyway.
