Photographer's comment: The moth is met in masses this year in my town (rare thing). Curious fact denying the linking this species with oak trees: there are no and never have been any oaks around (a rare tree in my habitat). Cottonwoods, willows, birches, a few maples and chestnuts. It prefers sitting on the lime which was used for covering all tree stems in my town. There are also many common Catocala nupta (they fly around together). There is no comments in English so far.
