In general, distinguishing these two species by photographs is shamanism. According to the theory of probability, given that transcaucasica has considerably expanded its range in the European part of the Russian Federation in recent years and has become almost massive in the Astrakhan region, it is rather transcaucasica. I would transfer to transcaucasica with an "tentative identification" mark.

That's really it, I look in the book — and I see nothing :--) I checked three times, and I remained in the opinion that Hierodula tenuidentata as identification at the iNat too.
Mikhail, Evgeny. No objection to transferring to Hierodula transcaucasica?

02.10.2023 17:44, Anatoliy Kuzmin

I see it as Hierodula transcaucasica, and not as Hierodula tenuidentata. I'm sorry ))

Anatoly, there is no mistake here. Your link also has Hierodula tenuidentata, and it's here too (but initially when you uploaded it, you specified Mantis religiosa).

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/147609166 There's probably a mistake somewhere. There or here?

Anatoliy, do you agree?

28.10.2020 11:03, Mihail Nyzhnikov

It's Hierodula tenuidentata
